The more I explore, the more I realise how beautiful our world is, and also how lucky I am to be able to see so much of it.
I took advantage of one of my long weekends away from work to have one final summer fling in Greece, before finally admitting that autumn has arrived. Jumping on a plane that left Gatwick around 5.30am (well, I’m used to early starts with the Morning Show on QVC) meant that I emerged into the bright, hot sunshine at Kalamata airport in the Peloponnese before 11, in plenty of time to join Olley for lunch by the sea!
This is somewhere neither of us has been to before, so we decided to travel round the middle ‘finger’ of the Peloponnese, known as the Mani. It’s an area with mountains, stunning coastal roads and totally unspoilt countryside, and seems as though it has changed very little over the years, unlike much of the more touristy areas of Greece. There was barely anyone else on the roads and we loved having no plans or agenda – just enjoying the freedom of the open road and each other’s company.
I’ve included some photos here to show you why we enjoyed it so much. The evening before I flew back to the UK we stayed at an olive farm in the hills and were treated to a majestic thunderstorm followed by a spectacular sunset to enjoy from our balcony. A wonderful way to finish my summer and return to QVC to join the excitement building for Christmas!
I know October might seem early to be thinking about the festive season, but getting sorted in good time means that the run up to Christmas can be less pressured and more enjoyable. And QVC can help in so many ways, of course, from planning the big meal to helping decorate your home to gift ideas for the whole family.
Also, more practical things like making sure you have enough bedding for all the visitors. We have some brilliant deals with Northern Nights at the moment, with up to 20% off many of our duvet and sheet sets. Have a look on our website to check out which are your favourites, but my choice is this lovely paisley pattern three-piece duvet set in high quality 100% cotton with a sateen finish, available in grey/pink as well as the grey/blue that I have. It’s a subtle design with a slightly lighter shade on one side which I’ve highlighted by turning back the duvet. I think it makes my spare room look really elegant and welcoming.
There are also some great feature prices on many great gifting items, especially from our Diamonique department. In the 18 years that I’ve been at QVC, not a Christmas has passed without me giving Diamonique, and this season will be no different. If you choose carefully you can give something that looks as though you’ve spent more than you have. Have a look at these earrings, such as these circular studs, these cluster studs, or these ones that come in a gorgeous bauble, all under £20 including P&P, and a bracelet too. The beauty of Diamonique is that it suits pretty much everyone and catches the light so that the clear stones show all the colours of the rainbow. The perfect gift!
I’ll pick a few more of my favourites next time, but until then, enjoy the autumn.
