I hope all’s well…
As spring-heralding daffodils finally gave way to tanzanite bluebells and the days gradually lose that icy bite, we really start to believe that summer has arrived – I know this depends on where you are reading this, as it may have not yet arrived in your neck of the woods.
My wife and I have been spending a lot of time this week in our garden, doing our best to get it back to somewhere near its best now that the builders have long gone. Plenty of Richard Jackson’s Flower Power and of course Lawn Magic have been applied, and if they could I’m sure our plants, flowers and lawn would say “cheers”.
As part of the aforementioned building works we had some bi-fold doors installed, something we had long admired but never got around to doing. They really have opened up the house to the garden and when it’s fine, it’s wonderful to fold them back and invite the garden into our home.
One of the few downsides is the increase in dust etc. that is brought back into the house, so we moved a large cream rug from the living room and put it down to see if it helped – well yes, it did, but it soon became pretty dirty and despite our best vacuuming efforts needed regular cleaning with a carpet washer.
So you can imagine my excitement when QVC asked me to try out a new Indoor/Outdoor rug that is to be a Today’s Special Value on “May Day”.
The rugs are part of our own Home Reflections range and have a beautiful but simple “Moorish” or Moroccan inspired graphic dot trellis or tiled design that we’re calling Medina.
There are five colours to choose from including Neutral, Grey, Navy, Red or a pop of Turquoise, and it’s available in three sizes; 213mm x 160mm, 170mm x 100mm or 150mm x 70mm.
The woven texture of the Medina rug provides a soft finish in living rooms, dining rooms and other interior spaces, while it’s also resilient enough for high traffic places like your hallway or kitchen, as well as outdoor spaces such as a patio or deck.
The rug is stain-resistant and washable for easy care as well, great for those with children, pets or just a tendency to spill things! Suitable for year-round indoor or outdoor use, the UV-resistant coating ensures the colour is here to stay after sitting in the sun too, and it’s easy to wash away any mould or mildew from it.
Pictured is the 213mm x 160mm Grey option:
Now perhaps you can see why we were excited to give the Medina a try!
It may not be the greatest surprise to learn that I have been a huge fan of the Real Pie Company for a number of years – I was lucky enough to present their very first show back in our old Battersea studios – I would guess around 2010? I’m sure our regular guest and co-owner Brett Hornby would remember the exact date as he was on set nervously making pies looking petrified and terrified to speak or be spoken to!
What a long way he has come! Brett is not only a wonderful warm guest but happily takes on Andi Peters and I with his own cheeky sense of humour and is a firm favourite with our viewers.
Now it’s not just pies that The Real Pie Company is famous for. They also make crumbles, sausage rolls and of course, their award-winning Real Pie Pasties. Well I’m delighted to say that on Thursday (the 2nd), we are offering a choice of ten Customer Favourite Traditional pasties OR a set of five Traditional and five Ham Hock Pasties!!
These will be offered at a great TSV price and on top of that you’ll be given the opportunity to go for an Auto Delivery option, which would give you a further three deliveries 60 days apart (four in total) – all of course at the TSV pricing! Remember you can cancel at any time!
Every pasty is hand crafted and ‘crammed to the crust’ and baked in small batches. The Real Pie Co then delivers their pasties within 24 hours of being baked, with each pasty individually wrapped and labelled with all the ingredients and nutritional information too – as you can see in my photo – then boxed in insulated boxes with food approved gel ice packs.
As they are delivered chilled not frozen, they are ready to eat immediately cold or re-heated, or can simply be placed in your fridge or freezer for when you’re ready to enjoy them!
Brett says “Our pasties will have a minimum of four day shelf life and can be frozen on arrival for up to six months. It’s recommend that they are defrosted before they are reheated. If you leave QVC a mobile number you’ll receive a text once your pasties have been dispatched.”
My problem on the day will be one of “pacing myself” as I will be presenting two hours with Brett. Mercifully I have a break in between as I just can’t help myself! There will be plenty of your favourite food brands on offer on the day supporting our TSV too, such as Gower Cottage Brownies, H Foreman & Son and many more!
Hope you can join us on the day,
Until next time stay indoors or outdoors and well fed!
