I’m sure most of you who watch regularly will be aware that QVC’s 25th Birthday Voucher Offer ends this weekend (23.59 Sunday to be precise) and what a fabulous pair of Today’s Special Value offers we have to tempt you with first. Launching at midnight tonight, although already available on our website if you want to get in early, is the Ruth Langsford chunky rib, roll neck jumper with side zip detail.
I absolutely love it and am tempted to order in a couple of colours. I have the Bordeaux at the moment but I also like the Olive and the Navy, and it comes in Black, Toffee and Grey too. I won’t order the Grey as I would disappear into the walls in my all grey house! It has a high percentage of cotton, 62%, and at least it’s available in two Easy Pay instalments so if you did want to go for a couple it’s like buying one now and one in a month. I’m looking forward to my show with Ruth tomorrow morning at 11am.
Maybe that will take you halfway to the first voucher threshold and the Elemis TSV (ending at midnight on Sunday) will take you over. It is a four-piece collection featuring the Peptide4 Recovery cream-oil and the Oxygenating Night Cream, both of which I already use, plus two new products – the Peptide4 Recovery Eye Cream and the Peptide4 1000 Flowers Mask. I love this picture below of Keeley and her husband, Omer, trying it out for you! I’ll be with Keeley for two hour long shows on Sunday, 11am is the first one, which is actually a full day of beauty and launches our beauty gifting shows with a three hour show from 9pm with our beauty expert Ali Young. So there’s plenty of reasons to treat yourself and get a voucher gift from QVC in return as a thank you for shopping with us – you can read the full terms and conditions on our website.
So, better late than never, I’m throwing the spotlight on the September birthstone, sapphire. Before I started working at QVC I, like most people, thought that sapphires only came in shades of blue but it actually comes in all shades of the rainbow apart from red. Because it is corundum, the same mineral family as ruby, all of the red shades are known as rubies and all other colours ‘fancy’ sapphires. I do remember when I was lucky enough to visit the Tucson Gem Fair a few years ago being absolutely amazed by the packets that contained the rainbow colours. That is what would have been purchased to create this lovely princess-cut half eternity ring, set in 9 carat gold. There are matching half hoop earrings if you wanted to complete the look.
The word sapphire comes from the Greek ‘sappheiros’ which means precious stone and due to the hardness is the second most popular stone chosen for engagement rings, diamond being first choice. It is said to encourage truth, loyalty, wisdom and clear thinking – all lovely traits in my opinion.
Time now for my look back over QVC UK’s twenty-five year history, although we are actually almost up to the present day as we’re looking at 2015/16. Marverine Cole had moved on to pastures new and her place in my dressing room was taken by Katy Pullinger. Katy was originally brought in to cover for Kathy Tayler who took a three month sabbatical starting in May 2016 – that initial three month stint has turned into over two years and she is now a very popular member of the team. On a personal note, she is a very kind and thoughtful ‘roomie’. When I went into our dressing room last Friday I found this card and bunch of flowers from her to celebrate my own twenty-fifth anniversary of starting with QVC. I was really touched. If you haven’t seen it yet, do check out Katy’s show, The Weekend Kitchen, at noon on Saturdays throughout September.
As always on a Friday, I am running a little short of time so will have to close here but just wanted to give you a heads-up that there will be a HUGE giveaway competition on next week’s blog with the winner to be announced live on air at 2pm on October 1st, the time QVC first broadcast back in 1993.
Have a great weekend.
