A double dose of blogging

Black and Decker 504612Hi all,

Can you tell I've got time on my hands ? Two blogs in one week! I was hoping to be back at work this Wednesday, but unfortunately I've still got that laryngitis, as I mentioned in my last blog – I'm very much on the mend but it's still not quite right. My doctor is pretty confident that I'll be good for next week.

A few weeks ago I presented an hour of DIY at "The Q", my first for some time, and I had a great time. As you'd expect, we had
some great gadgets in the show. A couple caught my eye – obviously they are for any DIY 'er but Father's Day is not far away – so if you're wondering what you can buy Dad, I thought I'd give them both a quick mention.

First up, the Black & Decker Gyro Driver is a fantastic little device and really packs a punch for something that is designed to literally fit into the palm of your hand.

What makes this really special is that it responds to your hand movements! Literally! Turn your hand to the left or right and it will automatically unscrew or drive a screw in – it even works in a vertical plane. Genius!

It is rechargeable, has a built-in light, and comes complete with a set of driver bits. I used it to put together a self-assembly gas barbecue the other day – it really saved some time (and possibly a few blisters)!

Takker 504520Onto my DIY find number two: If you're looking to quickly and efficiently hang a picture etc, give the Takker Hardwall fixing kit a try! This all-in-one unit has a special drill bit and square plugs that fix into the drilled hole (Yes! Square plugs in a round hole!). The plugs are housed onboard this cleverly designed gadget. It's already had great reviews and keeps selling out, but stock is due in soon.

Toby has been to the groomers this week – I've attached a photo of him chillin' out to his fave artist – Snoop Dog! The photo on the left is obviously before he went, afterwards he really looks a very different dog for a day or so, but his fluffy coat soon calms down and he then looks his normal shaggy self again.

Dale's Springwatch!

ToadWhile I was letting him out in the garden last night, I heard a rustling sound in the dark. I assumed it was a mouse, but it turned out to be a toad looking for his evening snack.

As I had my phone with me, I snapped this shot.

I'll be back on air next Wednesday at midnight (into Thursday) with a fab KitchenAid mixer TSV – just perfect for the experienced or budding bakers and chefs in your house.

'Till next time, stay safe and well

Dale x

    Hi Dale,
I just had a really horrid time! I don’t watch Q all the time, because otherwise I buy everything, so I might not be bang up to date. However, I was enjoying very much the Lisa Snowdon collection with Craig Rowe, then Lisa said ” We miss you Dale”- panic, upset – had my favourite QVC presenter left the building.
I am so relieved you are coming back.Nothing is for ever I know, but I just had to let you know how special you are.
I hope you are feeling so much better now, and hope you will be back really soon!
Thanks for all the tweets and keep them coming in the meantime. I love the pictures of Toby. Lots of love to you and your family. Sadiexx

I’m not planning on going anywhere just yet ! – I managed to pick up Acute Laryngitis and my Doc signed me off for a couple of weeks vocal rest! – I was back in last Weds, Thurs, Friday and I’ll be back on-air this Wednesday through Sunday xx
