A day in the life of beauty expert, Laura Geller

Hi gals! I’m so excited to share this blog post with you all. I’m thrilled to be back in the UK for my Today’s Special Value offer on April 9th; I really hope you all adore this upcoming collection because it’s one of my favorites.

One of the questions I receive the most from my Geller Girls is what does a typical day look like for me? Quite honestly, every single day is different but always exciting in its own way. That is one of the things I love most about what I do – it’s always changing and on the go.

On any given day I’m in my New York City office having meetings with my teams, reviewing new product launches and making changes so that all my gals will love the new products, planning for my QVC shows in the US and UK, attending events with editors and bloggers, or meeting with colleagues in the industry. Each day is a nice little surprise for me and I wanted to take you along on the journey.

Although I am the brand founder, my most important job is mom to Daniel. Even though he is in high school, which is still hard for me to believe, I love spending some time with him in the morning. I will wake him up and make sure that he has breakfast and everything set for his day.

After he leaves I can’t survive without a cup of coffee and I like to enjoy some quiet time before the day begins. Some of my very best ideas come from that few moments to myself!

In my apartment I have a gorgeous view of New York City, so I love getting myself ready for the day with a view of a city I love so much. My product development team is always passing along lab samples for me to try as we tweak and change upcoming formulas, so this is the perfect time for me to test out the new launches. I have a few exciting things coming up, including colour correction, new shades of my famous illuminators and maybe even some new lip shades I’m dying over! (hint hint)

Once I’m ready, I’ll usually hop on a call with my Home Shopping and Marketing teams. Prepping for the QVC shows takes so much effort! We review all of the show lineups to ensure that we have all of your favourites in the shows and even talk through which models will be in my chair and what shades of the product they will be wearing. We take so much pride in putting on a show that teaches you about how to use the products but also showcases the products and shades perfectly so you can make an informed decision about what to buy!

As the afternoon creeps in, I’ll head down to the office. I love my NYC office and love interacting with my entire team. It’s a fast-paced environment always buzzing with energy! When I walk in to the office one of my favourite things to do is walk around and say hello to everyone. Although we are a global organisation, it feels more like family, and some of my employees have been with me for a very long time! I enjoy hearing about their latest ideas and successes and cheering them on along the way.

I’ll settle into my office, make a few phone calls and then meetings begin! One of the most fun meetings I typically have is reviewing all of the new shade swatches and products that have come in from our labs and factories around the world, but especially from Italy. My Product Development team will sit with me and present the latest and we will try it on myself, each other, other women in the office. I am meticulous about ensuring that the shades and products are perfect for you! This process can be tedious but in the end it is worth it for my Geller Girls! Other meetings could be discussing upcoming promotions, calendars, marketing events – sometimes as far out as next year!

After or in between meetings, I’ll usually meet with my social media team to do a quick video shoot, depending what we have planned or take a few photos! I love interacting with my Geller Girls and my team loves to relay to me what you may be commenting on or saying. I take time every day to read your posts and messages and they are informative and encouraging.

Usually at this point in the day I will realise the time has flown by and it’s time to make the two hour trek to QVC US for a show! When most people are ending their day, I’m just getting mine started. Being in the studio and in front of the camera knowing my Geller Girls are on the other side is one of my favorite things to do! I always say “when the light goes on” I forget any nerves or exhaustion I have. It’s all for you, my amazing customers, that I do what I do. I am so grateful for your love and support of my brand.

There are so many new and exciting things coming to the US and UK, and it’s going to be so wonderful to reveal them all to you! I’m especially excited for the upcoming TSV on April 9th.

This TSV is inspired by the first piece of art I ever purchased so it’s truly a special collection. I thought the two linked together nicely because when you think about it, art and make-up are similar. Your face is a canvas and make-up is the art.

There are a few fan favorites, like my Spackle and Balance-n-Brighten foundation, but also we’re introducing a new, abstract printed blush which is one of the most versatile pieces I have ever created – blush, highlight, even eyeshadow! You’re going to love this TSV, gals!

Thank you for taking this journey through my day with me, and thank you for your constant love and support.

See you on April 9th!

Hi Laura. I swear I saw you on the King’s Road in Chelsea the week before last – were you in London then? It was a Sunday, you were with a couple of friends and i heard you both say how much you love the King”s Road. i’m so sure it was you but i didn’t want to disturb your trip in London town so didn’t say hello.

Hi Laura, really looking forward to to TSV – the blush looks beautiful. There is a blush that I really love that was in a set – Baked Ekements Burnt Sienna – is it still available please? – it has such a beautiful peachy tone to it which, of course, is ‘on trend’ at the moment. I did try and email QVC direct about it, but didn’t hear anything back, hope you can let me know, xx

Hi Laura, love, love, love your make up, used it for years. PLEASE can we have more of the Eye Dew eye shadows, they are great, I prefer them to using the brush with eye shadow. I see a trio on QVC America that looks lovely, please bring them here. Thanks

Hi Laura, I have been using your make up ever since you first showed it on QVC, I always stock pile in case I run out which I would hate.
However, I have run out of your Lip & Eye Spackle in the little black pot!!! I have phoned customer services to see if it was “out of stock or discontinued”, but no one can give me an answer?
Please, Please Laura can we have it back in stock? I can’t live without that little black magic pot, its the bast. XXX
