The Jackie Kennedy finale, a Gtech TSV, and pet peeves…

Dale's forest walkI hope this finds you all as well as can be expected – this time of year is a nightmare for planning a day out, but I quite like it!

Sunny spells find me reaching for my Ultrasun SPF 20 Sport, only to find 15 minutes later, it's a case of taking cover from rainy thunderstorms and battening down the hatches from a sudden gust of wind out of nowhere!

If you were lucky enough to be celebrating Father's Day, I hope you had a lovely day.

I decided to go for a long walk with my daughter Ali and dog Toby – we were gone for over two hours! We had a wonderful time chatting and walking across Heathland and through foxglove-laden woodland – bliss!

That is, until the last 20 metres or so…

I looked around and asked Ali "where's Toby?"

He is always sniffing at bushes etc a couple of paces behind us, but he was nowhere to be seen. So, I whistled several times and after about a minute, Ali cried out "there he is!"

She started laughing as he had all sorts of Bracken, Gorse, Heather – you name it! –  stuck in his luxuriant coat! We were both laughing, until he got closer, and then we looked at eachother and held our noses!

Simultaneously we realised that he had rolled in the most disgusting smelling foul faeces! I assume (and hope) it was deposited by a fox – but he was totally covered in it.

I took a photo for my blog but, upon looking at it again, I really don't think it's what the Q Customer needs to see! I'm sure you can use your imaginations…

Suffice to say, I spent the next two hours:

1) Picking out thousands of thorns etc.

2) Washing him down with a hose

3) Washing him three times with dog – and ultimately mild human – shampoo to try and clean his coat

I still stand by my blog comment the other week – he really is a great dog and perhaps I'm just lucky that this is the first time he's done this – has this happened to you? Or rather, your dog!

Go on – share your stories below – it's very cathartic!

Moving swiftly on…

There's always the footy! I'm a life-long football fan, and I'm very patriotic – so I say this with a heavy heart – but I have been falling out of love with the great game very slowly but gradually for some time now.

I'm not going to bore you all with my views here, but I will just say: How is it that the most played, watched, and wealthiest sport in the world still has not introduced a video ref?!

Meanwhile other major sports such as rugby, cricket, basketball, tennis, and American football have been using it for years!

I'm sure many, if not all, of the things that continually frustrate fans around the world would be sorted out very quickly – foul play, off-side, play-acting, wrong penalty decisions, handball etc – leaving us all to enjoy 'the Beautiful Game' in the knowledge that the right decision was made.

OK, jump off the soap box Dale!

On that note, best wishes to Gary Lewin the brilliant England physio for a quick recovery after his freak accident during the England match – celebrating Sturridge's superb equaliser.

I had the pleasure of introducing the show with Phil several years ago, and I know I won't be the only one to miss it. Phil has written a lovely
piece about the collection and why it's time to say goodbye. Plus, we're giving away five books owned by the woman herself! Read the blog and enter the comp here

I hope you can join myself with Jewellery Historian Phil Katz for the last time together with this collection – this Thursday at 5pm.

Saturday's TSV is a brilliant cordless Garden Multi-Tool from Gtech – giving you all the tools you need for many jobs in the garden.

It comes with interchangeable heads including: a hedge trimmer, branch cutter, weed buster, grass shears, and grass strimmer – which all run off a rechargeable 18V battery. We even include an additional battery, to ensure you are always ready to go for the job at hand.

I was given a sample to try out and I made a 'quick' video to show how much it can do around the garden. Before you think I had had too much sugar, I did speed up the video 😉

I found it really easy to use and was delighted to hear that we will be offering it at midnight Friday into Saturday on a maximum 4 Easy Pay!

Until next time, stay safe and I hope you don't need to don a nose-clip whilst walking your dog!

    Hi Dale
Glad I’m not the only one to have a smelly dog. My Terrier, Molly rolls at every opportunity. Poo, worms, dead things anything around. We usually have to return from our walks via the river, then wrapped in a waterproof dog wrap she rides home in the car looking very smug until we reach home and straight to the bathroom we go – which she hates.Shes 12 now but thats no deterent, still very much the naughty terrier.
    Kind regards

Ha ha Marion Dogs … who’d ‘ave ’em – well we would ! I walked past the area that he rolled in the other day and he just looked at me and walked by – I laughed out loud ! Thanks for your comment and continue to enjoy Molly ! Dale x

Hi Dale, sorry to hear the Jacqueline Kennedy collection has come to an end, always enjoyed the stories connected to the collection, also, concerned we have not seen Carolyn Pollock for a while, are there any shows planned for the near future ?
