A brief stop on the Isle of Wight

Lots to bring you in this weeks blog including details on a competition with Yankee Candle coming soon… but the prize isn’t a candle!

I hope you’ve had a lovely week. Mine has flown by and being half term I squeezed in so much. My car has clocked up countless miles with various day trips including a quick visit to the Isle of Wight.

I love my photography and the Isle of a Wight has some of the most spectacular scenery and landscapes plus, of course, the red squirrels which are magical if you’re lucky enough to see them.

So all of this wonderful scenery on the island which is just a snap shot away. Well, I came away with just two photos of my brief visit! A picture of a crab while out walking on my favourite beach (at the top) and a photo of this little prize we did our level best to win on the 2p machine in the arcade! Actually there is a third photo, of my Dad, who is fast asleep but he won’t thank me for showing it with his mouth half open – I’ll endeavour to bring more scenic shots on my next visit!

We won the little clapper board prize by the way 🙂

Dad being asleep reminds me of a little incident some thirty years ago when I was just 11 years old. We were holidaying on the island and we stopped off at a little tea room for a mid afternoon snack. Dad suggested we have a look around the village while he grabbed forty winks. Dad can sleep anywhere. So, off we went leaving Dad all alone in the quiet and very empty tea room garden to grab his quick nap.

After a 30 minute exploration of the little village we headed back to collect Dad. Well, the once quiet empty tea room was now bustling and heaving with a coach load of visitors who’d stopped off for their afternoon cream tea. It was packed, every table was taken… apart from the one table where Dad was sound asleep… and snoring… snoring like we had never heard him before. It was thunderous! Heads were constantly turning in his direction. Some found it funny, others weren’t that impressed, and there were those who simply pretended he wasn’t there!

We completely disowned him and made a hasty exit hoping he’d soon wake and return to the car of his own accord. He did, eventually, looking thoroughly refreshed and wide awake. We were in hysterics! Some thirty years later we still recall that memory and it makes us laugh to this day.

Looking at my schedule I’m thrilled to see I’m on air with Tova as we launch her latest Today’s Special Value offer on Wednesday 10th June at midnight. The Diamonique by TOVA Love Knot Ring, crafted in sterling silver, is beautiful and I can’t wait to hear what Tova loves about the design herself. I do hope you can join us. It’s certain to be a very special hour.

Ok, so a fabulous competition is on it’s way! Next week it’ll be your chance to win this from Yankee Candle (Steven not included!):

They have especially given QVC this Yankee cushion for me to give away. You may have noticed these cushions on set during the Yankee show. We receive many calls asking about them; they’re currently not available at QVC and not for sale in any of their shops, which makes this a very unique prize! So we can’t even put a price or value on the cushion! Details on how to enter in next week’s blog.

See you soon and if you’re on Twitter I’d love to hear from you – I’m @mecharliebrook – or do leave a comment below 🙂

Take care
