You may be surprised to hear that despite appearing in front of the television cameras on QVC for more than twenty-five years, and doing some photographic modelling work in my younger days, I’m not a fan of having my picture taken. My most recent publicity pictures for QVC were taken shortly after we moved to Chiswick Park almost seven years ago, and my own publicity shots, which I have used as author photos on my self-published books, pre-date that.
So… after hearing what a wonderful photographer Sharon, one of our QVC regular models is, I took the plunge and booked a session with her. I also booked one of our regular makeup artists from QVC, Siena, to do my hair and makeup.
I have to say that they both made it a very pleasant experience helped in part by having Smooth radio playing in the back ground – I think I’d like to work there as I knew the words to most of the songs on the playlist! It was also like a home from home as Sharon has two cats, one of whom, Mia, was determined to get in on the act.
These are behind the scenes pictures, but after I’ve had a chance to go through the contact sheet I’ll put my favourites on here next week and you can help me choose which to use.
Funnily enough, Sharon will be one of our models for the LAB teeth whitening TSV next Wednesday. I’ve always been a bit nervous of traditional teeth whitening methods as I have already got quite sensitive teeth, but I would like a brighter and whiter smile.
I don’t mean a ‘fake white’ smile, I’m not a fan of those, but just a few shades whiter would be good. So I’m going to try the TSV out over the next few days and I’ll let you know how I get on.
Speaking of teeth, I had my six month check at the dentist last Monday, the first since I had my tooth out last September. I’m pleased to report that all I needed this time was a surface filling in the wisdom tooth next to the one that was extracted, which had always been difficult to clean previously with my overcrowded mouth. It was actually my only day off from writing out of the nine days away from QVC. I have written a lot of words and am delighted to report that I feel much more confident now of making my end of April deadline… phew!! Only about another 30,000 words to go!
I also had some great news about my first book for Bookouture, which is being published in June. It’s been confirmed there will be an audio book, a first for me, released at the same time. This particularly pleases me as Debs Flint will be able to ‘read/listen’ to it on her long drive to and from her home in Devon, where quite a lot of the book was written when I stayed with her last year – I hope she likes it! I think the book is going on pre-order next week, assuming Bookouture have finalised the cover and the title (keep an eye on my social media if you are interested) – I am waiting with baited breath as it will be the first time that I have had no input into a cover design for my books.
Well, I hope you are taking advantage of our two day on-air sale? There were lots of better than half price reductions in the shows I presented yesterday, and I’m sure there will be many more today, plus it’s across most of our departments. Today I will be sharing reductions on Jewellery at 3pm, Beauty at 5pm (in place of the regular Fashion on Friday) and Fashion on the Style Channel at 6pm. And while on the subject of the Style Channel, there is a diamond ring Big Deal to watch out for coming up next week.
With clever cutting and setting, the baguettes and rounds in this Art Deco-inspired double halo design make the 0.15 carats look very impressive – I think you’ll be impressed by the price of 341238 too.
Something else not to miss out on, especially if you are a fan of the Bareminerals Original Mineral Foundation, is the TSV tomorrow. It has two foundations in your choice of shade (mine is medium tan), Lashtopia mascara, Barepro lipstick in Petal, Barepro Glow Highlighter and Gen Nude Primer for the eyes, which is colour matched to your foundation choice. All of this for under £40 and it’s already available on pre-order if you know you are going to be out and about enjoying the sunshine tomorrow. I’m with SJ at 11am, so hopefully see you there.
I won’t be in on Sunday as it is Mother’s Day and I had one final day of annual leave to take. Apparently I am going to be cooked for…. sounds good!
Before I sign off, just wanted to say a big congratulations to Gareth Southgate and the England football team – you did us proud with your ten goal haul! Is a repeat of the 1966 World Cup win finally on the cards with this young and creative group of players and their manager? I do hope so.
Have a great weekend!
