I've sat down today to write to all those of you who have written such kind words to me after reading my blog about Down's awareness day and I'll be honest, I just do not know where to start. Dan and I flew to Marrakesh on the 21st, ( I know, talk about timings!) Mummy rang as we were checking in to say how proud she was to see Tom on QVC's website and guess what I had had some replies.
WOW – I was excited and so happy. As I linked in to see for myself people must've had Dan and I down as a couple who are unable to hold a conversation with each other and are welded to our phones!
It's always strange when I write something and it's published on my blog. I always think will it be looked at? Have I offended? Will anyone write a message back? But this blog was so very important to me and I feel terrifically grateful to QVC for putting Tom up on the homepage, particularly as it had led some of you to click and read.
There were articles in the press that day which reduced Dan to tears on the plane! Bit tricky stifling sobs in such close proximity to strangers! Happy tears too he said! That evening we read the wonderful comments you had chosen to leave about Tom and about your own lovely and super special children and families – tears AGAIN!!
So, an emotional day was had for sure but a delighted, grateful and "connecting" day, if that makes sense.
Through the blog and from your replies I feel so many of us are all coping with differences of one kind or another and I know inspiration and strength came through to me as I read each and every word of yours.
I send my love to you all and hope you'll forgive me for not replying personally to each of you.
As ever, I am so humbled that you took the time to read and perhaps share my words.
Thank you ALL of you,
Claire, Dan, TOM, Joe and Maddie
