An end of summer catch up

Having tentatively peeked to see if any of you had responded to my last blog about Tom leaving school, I was once again astounded and thoroughly thrilled to see so that so many off you had left such wonderful comments about him… I couldn’t quite decide how to respond to each of you so I really hope you will accept my belated yet heartfelt thanks as a start to this blog.

Thank you for taking the time to respond and for your kind and caring words about my family. I was touched to see how many of you remember back to his birth and have followed our journey. Your support truly means so much.

It’s hard to believe the summer of 2017 is all but over… it will be one I will never forget. My family has been so fortunate and we have had some joyful happy time but there has been much sadness for people I care for so very much. My wish to wave a magic wand has been a constant one but as we all know the ability to alter things is simply not available to us and I can only hope that strength and peace are showered on those who need it most.

A long anticipated holiday to Corfu was part of our happy time and we certainly loved it, with lush dense greenery, amazing sea and sky and a chance to relax in such wonderful surroundings with friends was much needed.

A perfect antidote to the busy day-to-day life that I know we all are part of. It felt fabulous to stop and breathe… and appreciate.

Our hotel on the south of the island was super and had everything we could have needed. Tom was as ever on first name terms with so many guests and staff and we certainly enjoyed seeing him blossom socially and interestingly possibly romantically!! There was a family who also had three children, their middle daughter has Downs Syndrome too. Tom was insistent he liked her ‘just as a friend’… we shall see.

The food eaten and drink drunk was plentiful so I am horrified looking through the holiday snaps, but, tommorow is another day! And in the big scheme of things if just a little extra weight is all we have to worry about then aren’t we lucky.

We hired a boat for the day to tootle around the island further and experienced a stunning lagoon to snorkel in. I loved the feeling of freedom that being on the water brings, just being a tiny object in amongst a huge expanse of sea and sky was humbling.

The body was carefully protected with Ultrasun, I did 50 for the children at the start and certainly on the days on the water. Tom spent a lot of time in the water chatting away so factor 50, a T-shirt and a cap were his best friends! Luckily the wi-fi in our hotel was a bit clunky (hooray!) so the usual best friend, THE I PAD, was relegated to the room and he showed a fine aptitude for photography this trip.

My best friend had to be Swimcap from Philip Kingsley which I used everyday and Elasticizer. As you may have seen on-air I am trying to warm up the blonde hair back  to a more reddy, strawberry shade… problem is it fades quicker than you like and obviously more so on a hot holiday. I’m so pleased to say the condition and a hint of warmth has stayed… all thanks to Philip Kingsley’s wonderful products.

Speaking of Philip Kingsley, have you seen this Q&A video I filmed recently with their consultant trichologist Lisa Caddy? If you have some questions on haircare, you may very well find the answers in this.

On Wednesday the Today’s Special Value offer features Philip Kingsley’s Body Building Shampoo and Conditioner and Elasticizer all in the delicious Coconut Breeze edition which will transport us back to holiday mode even in the Autumnal months! Cheeky heads up… you can PRE-ORDER now and have the TSV price along with the superb offer of 3 Easy payments ahead of the rest. I can’t recommend it highly enough and will be ensuring I’m topped up as no matter how careful we are the summer takes a toll on our hair and skin.

Interestingly, I can’t be the only one realising this as our Beauty Team have secured Hairfix as our Beauty Pick of the Month for September and Elemis Omega Rich Cleansing Oil as our Supersize of the month.

Hairfix is obviously about the thinning hair and if you have any concerns in this area take a little look at our Beauty Expert Alison Young’s blog explaining all about it.

And to supersize the incredible Cleansing Oil from Elemis this September is so helpful  financially as it’s a superb treatment which does so much more than cleanse. I can see a ‘tapping of the app’ moment coming for sure!

So as September is all about new beginnings in my world, I shall be taking some time to organise Tom with his new college life and all that means, so I will so look forward to seeing you all on air on the 12th.

Until then much love, happiness and peace to you all.

Claire xxxx
