Hi there, thanks for stopping at my blog of what I’ve been up to. This last two weeks I took a few days holiday to help myself out a bit while my husband Fred was away with work for two weeks so I was at home with the kids. It was also my birthday and for that day I really had a proper day off, well, for most of it, but I’ll tell you about that in a minute. After a birthday breakfast with my kids and some presents and cards I headed to the New Forest with my best friend Anna (the one I make my parenting YouTube Channel ‘Hey Mummy’ with). We went to the most incredible Spa at Limewood Hotel. Now this is not something I do very often so it was a HUGE treat! It’s one of the most beautiful and relaxing spas I have ever been to. Driving through the New Forest with wild ponies on the side of the road on a sunny day was the perfect start. We then had a fresh juice before we headed to our treatment rooms. I chose a deep tissue massage which was amazing and much needed followed by a mini manicure.
After that we had lunch in their ‘Raw and Cured’ restaurant where I had a gorgeous cured meat and cheese platter. I know, not the healthy choice, but it was my birthday! Then can you believe who I spotted over Anna’s shoulder as I was tucking in? I looked up and tried to whisper to Anna, “You’ll never guess who’s sitting behind you”, I said out of the side of my mouth. “It’s only Sophie Countess of Wessex!!!” She was in work out gear and having a nice day out with some friends. It’s not often you have a birthday lunch in the presence of Royalty. If you look over Anna’s shoulder in the picture above you can just about see her.
After that we hit the Hydra Pool and the Sauna and Steam Room where we really started to relax. I have been struggling with large areas of dryness on my face recently. I’ve been trying rich hydrating creams but it hadn’t been getting any better. I couldn’t understand it. Sometimes though I think our skin gets too used to the creams we are using and sometimes it needs a shake up. I had taken with me the Perricone Blue Plasma which I hasn’t used before and decided to give it a try. It’s a gentle daily peel, it’s very pale blue and has a slightly unusual but not unpleasant smell. Perhaps it was the juices or the sauna and steam room or the fact I had had time to relax but the next day my skin felt fantastic and the dry tight area had gone. I’m using it every day now. For me it’s proof that sometimes you need to break beauty habits. You can then go back to your favourites but it needs a wake up sometimes.
That evening my friend Becki popped round to have a glass of fizz and a slice of cake but soon after it was a very different scene as Ivy started being sick! CRASH! That’s the sound of me falling back down to reality. I should add it wasn’t because of too much cake, she had caught a bug. So I had a whole night of nursing my poorly little nearly 2 year old. It’s rotten seeing them sick. Thankfully it was just a 24 hour bug and she was back to herself pretty quickly.
At the end of last week I also attended a really great event with Channel Mum (and Anna again!) at Google Head Office in London. We got to listen to some incredible inspiring talks about the world of YouTube, there was ‘stand up’ from the ‘Scummy Mummies’ who are hilarious by the way. They do a song about the School PTA which will have you howling. Then Anna and I got to interview the main guests which was so exciting for us. Sarah Turner aka The Unmumsy Mum, Louise Pentland ‘You Tube Star’ and author of ‘Happy Mum Happy Baby’ Giovanna Fletcher were all on stage with us to answer our questions. They were all really inspiring and had some great insights into their worlds and how they juggle being working mums but also the scrutiny of being in the public eye.
This week though I am back to QVC as normal and I’m very much looking forward to the Molton Brown Day today (Tuesday). I am a long term fan of this gorgeous bath and body range. The smells are incredible and I love how they last on your skin all day.
There’s something aspirational about Molton Brown don’t you think? You always clock it if it’s in a friends bathroom, downstairs loo or in a nice hotel. It’s the Today’s Special Value so make sure to stock up with some fantastic prices.
That’s it from me for now. As always, you can keep up with me on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook but please do leave me any comments on what you’ve been up to. I love to hear from you.
