Is is too late to wish you all a happy New Year? If so, let me just say that I send you all my wishes for a healthy, fulfilling 2017, hopefully surrounded by friends and family who mean a lot to you and raise your spirits just by being there.
This year started quietly for me, having taken the early shift at QVC I was happy not to be partying until the early hours and, in the end, Olley and I enjoyed a candlelit supper, an evening snuggled on the sofa with some catch-up TV and into bed in time to admire the London fireworks from the combined comfort of Magniflex and Northern Nights. What an amazing display! Although I can’t help thinking that an awful lot of money could have been saved by cutting the time a little. They seemed to go on forever.
The following morning dawned late – a grey, damp and rather dismal day. But we decided on the spur of the moment to head to a favourite area of mine, the New Forest. We found a brilliant deal at a hotel offering a four course New Year’s Day lunch and overnight that really didn’t break the bank, and with sunshine promised for the Monday bank holiday it seemed a good idea. It was!!
We ate and hibernated on Sunday, but on Monday we walked and walked, first on the beach at Mudeford and then in the New Forest at Burley. All beautiful and all a fantastic, invigorating and uplifting start to the year. I love being outside whatever the British weather, but when it’s as gorgeous as it was last Monday, there’s nowhere I’d rather be. You can see why from these photos.
Sometimes, though, I have to be inside, and I don’t mind when it’s the QVC studios! I’m excited that my fashion show Morning Style will be returning in the middle of February – we’re already planning the new series and I’ll let you know more about it soon. At the moment, we are enjoying lots of fashion outlet shows on air, with even more bargains available on our website qvcuk.com. We have to make some room in our warehouse for all the new styles we’ll be enjoying for spring, so see if you can find something to love for your wardrobe.
We have also started the daily hours running through January devoted to our ‘discovery’ brand Living Proof on QVC Beauty – you may have read my previous blog about how the range has helped me with my hair. We’re taking some time to help you get to know this relatively new brand, to make sure you can get the best from it. We are always looking for something fresh to entice you with, and I’m particularly looking forward to bringing you a show called ‘New in Beauty’ at 1pm on Sunday 22nd, which is part of our January 48 hour Beauty Weekend. I will also be fronting a show new to me, all about Filorga skincare, which is causing a bit of a storm at the moment. It’s an innovative range from France which offers real alternatives to the needle or the knife, and while I’d never consider invasive anti-ageing this sounds very interesting.
There’s plenty in store on QVC between now and then, though, so I do hope you can join me very soon.
Until then, take care.
