Say “yes” more often!

I’ve been to an incredibly exciting sporting event since my last blog – not something I do very often, but I’m so glad my hubby persuaded me! It was at the Olympic velodrome in east London, aka the Lee Valley Velopark, and we spent a fabulous Saturday night watching Six Day London. If you’re into cycling you’ll know all about it; for those who aren’t, it’s an international cycling event where top riders battle it out in London, Berlin, Amsterdam and Copenhagen to reach the spectacular final which will be in Mallorca in March.image2image3

It was amazing, like being at a big party – food, wine, and a DJ blasting out great music, while super-famous cyclists like Bradley Wiggins and Mark Cavendish did their thing all around us. My hubby even got to shake Bradley’s hand, which completely thrilled him (he’s a massive cycling fan). I really wasn’t that keen to go, but I absolutely loved it. That’ll teach me to say “yes” more often – you can miss out on fabulous things, can’t you, if you say no just because you’re not sure you’re going to enjoy something?

Talking of fabulous – and to completely change the subject – I was delighted to see that our Beauty Pick of the Month for November comes from one of my very favourite cosmetic brands, Tarte. I adore their mascara so this is right up my street – a three-piece mascara “wardrobe” with a curler, a primer and the brilliant Lash Paint Mascara. Highly recommended.

Finally, a picture for the dog lovers. A gorgeous puppy has been named after Cora Baxter, the heroine of my series of murder mystery novels (the second one came out in October)! I was sent a photo of gorgeous Cora so thought I’d share it with you – how cute she is! I’m very touched indeed, so thank you Richard and Katrina.image4

See you soon,

Love Jackie x

Hi Jackie, wow that sounds an amazing night I’m very jealous! I so agree with you about saying yes to things and getting bing them a try. I’ve been lucky enough to have experienced a few things like that through my husbands job. The best one was getting to meet Westlife backstage and they invited us to stay to the show. It was amazing and before then I wasn’t even a fan!!
How cute is Cora – she’s so sweet.
    Best wishes

      Hi Denise,
Westlife were lovely, weren’t they! I interviewed them in my reporter days. And yes, Cora is ADORABLE. I would love a dog but I’m away from home too much. Maybe one day.
      Have a great week.
      Love Jackie x

    Hi Jackie,
So glad you enjoyed yourself! I always think it’s such a nice feeling when you go somewhere that you don’t feel like or don’t usually go & you really enjoy yourself, makes you realise you should seize every opportunity!
My hubby’s favourite quote is “I don’t regret the things I’ve done. I regret the things I didn’t do when I had the chance”
I did think that YOU were very complimentary, charming & professional on the Kelly Hoppen jewellery show & I, personally think that once you’ve treated yourself to something nice, you can wear it however you like! It is so refreshing to here presenters giving their own ideas as everyone is unique with different tastes so please carry on Jackie!
Have a lovely week & look forward to seeing your shows & as usual, your fab sense of humour.
    Love from
    Mandy xx

      Hi Mandy
I love that quote by your husband, very much my philosophy on life. We should seize the day, shouldn’t we? I’m definitely going to go to more sporting events now if I get the chance, the buzz was amazing. Thank you for your lovely comments, you are very kind.
      Love Jackie x
