Wow, what a heatwave. It’s been amazing, but boy oh boy has it been a bit hot and sweaty. One perks of the job at QVC is that we get to film in the garden on sunny days – can’t complain too much about a job where you get to be outside on a lovely day eh?
This week, after filming on Tuesday, I headed into Soho on the hottest day of the year so far, to meet the lovely Amanda Bell from Pixi to learn a bit more about the beauty brand that I would be on air with for an hour on Tuesday (26th 6pm). I was greeted with a selection of fresh juices and water infused with cucumber and mint and some snacks which where all super healthy and vegan. The vegetarian/vegan lifestyle is an integral part of the Pixi ethic, so it was very apt. They don’t test on animals and they try and make as many of their products vegetarian, if not vegan, as possible.
The make-up artist for Pixi is Amanda, who will be showing us all how to use their lovely products. I had such a nice chat with her, not just about the products but life in general! Always nice when you feel completely at ease with someone to chat about everything and anything. She told me about her Italian background, her son, her cats and her obsession with espresso. She of course also told me about the brand itself and went through some of their iconic products (all of which are coming soon!) such as Pixi Glow Tonic, the H20 Skin Tint and their Make-up Fixing Mist. I’ve been using some of the products, and the Glow Tonic ‘On the Go’ pads are fantastic, and I’m a little in love with the Rose Oil too. I’m a sucker for anything that is packed beautiful essential oils.
The H20 foundation is light and it blends beautifully on my skin, and the eye liner stays in place with no kick back on my upper lid at all (this is a pet hate of mine with eyeliners). I have more products to try out before Tuesday so make sure to join us to see the range QVC has to offer and find out how I’m getting on with them, but most importantly get all the top tips from Amanda, who’s experience in the make up industry takes her from fashion week to on set working on music videos. She was scheduled to be on set on Friday but wasn’t allowed to tell me who’s video it would be – I shall see if I can coax it out of her on Tuesday but I don’t think I will have much luck!
Later in the week the fun started as I had been given some toys to try out with my eldest daughter Tilda, although my one year-old Ivy certainly tried to get involved too. I surprised them with a set of Turbo Twister Remote Control Cars which are coming to QVC as Today’s Special Value on 25th – for Christmas in July!! I wasn’t sure what the reaction would be as Tilda is obsessed with Disney Princesses but she absolutely loved them. She kept shouting, these are soooooo cool, these are soon awesome!!!
When I asked her what she felt about them she said she loved them because they are like a pet and she can train it. Ha kids eh?!! You can see that bit in the little video I filmed of her with them. They light up too so when it’s dark they look amazing and as you get two you will be able to race them. What a perfect kids gift. Ivy, who is too young to control one still loved watching them move and squealed and laughed and carried the second car around under her arm!
These cars are a lot of fun, they are crazy the way they move and will be endless entertainment. Makes sure to see what they can do on Monday’s show.
I would love to know what you think of Pixi beauty and the Turbo Twisters so do leave me a comment.
