How do you think my builders are getting on?

How’s your week been? Mine has been a tad manic because  – after a bit of a faltering start last week –  the building works have begun on our new house. It’s by no means a total renovation, but it feels like it to us, because neither Austen or I have ever had to do anything like this on previous properties of our own or of relatives, so it’s safe to say we’re novices. Take a look at what’s been happening so far, and look out for the start of the show, who we’ve now dubbed CC (Community Cat)

Thanks for joining me on my Elemis show last Sunday: it was so much fun and we had some super offers. Emer did so well, considering she’s so very close to her due date too, bless her. And speaking of offers, I hope you picked up some gems on Leap Year Day. It was the day Austen and I made the decision to give the Bose Solo 15 TV System a try. When I get hold of it, I’ll do an unboxing video and let you know how I get on.

I was catching up on some of the video highlights from our epic Beauty Bash in January and I saw the Beauty Bash video of Alison talking to Emma Gunarvardhana about the Pure Collagen supplements.

Then last week when I saw Pipa and Emma with it on The Morning Show I ordered a box straight away. You might know that Emma’s background as a Beauty Editor – including OK! Magazine – is superb, she doesn’t suffer fools gladly, she’s tried a lot of brands over the years and now she’s freelance  she’s even  more particular about what she supports and doesn’t. She’s also the ambassador for Bioeffect at QVC and she really believes in the Pure Collagen supplements too.

Gold Collagen 2

Take a look at why I wanted to try them out, and if you’re as curious as I was, then get an order in straight away. It really is the next big beauty advancement and also there’s super value for money on the 10 day pack, because if you search around, you’ll see other places charging a lot more for them. There are also some very positive reviews online about it – 11 of them and all 5 stars! So if you want to take a look and maybe place an order then click here.

Haha – makes me remember when we bought our cottage and had to strip it right back, then totally rewire, replumb, replaster, repaint and decorate!

    Lovely little cat welcoming you!

The Gold tastes lovely, but a bit too sweet for me.

Love the videos about your new home. Just imagine what it will be like when it’s all finished. Keep updating x

How exciting for you, Marverine, to finally have a home of your own. I know renovations are a pain but when it’s all done, dusted (literally!!!) and decorated, it will all be worth it.

But the best thing for me is the lovely pussy-cat that seems to be ‘on inspection’ from time to time. If he turns out to need a home, please consider keeping him because there’s nothing like the love of an animal to make everything really seem like ‘home’. Look forward to seeing more of him (hint, hint).

    Good luck with it all.

You’re doing better than me with your “homework”! You have a lovely tiled floor in your hall, are you going to keep it? It’s lovely to do a place up but keep original touches as well.
The cat is hilarious. I think if you don’t find his official place of residence, you may have adopted a new member of the family.
Good luck with the rest of the work, and hope we get a sneaky peak at the end results.

HI Jill – wow, you went through some work, didn’t you?? Rewiring fills me with horror – not least because of the cost involved! Well done you, what a job!!!

HI Sue – cheers for your support – glad you like the videos. Fun doing them and also a great record of how the house was when we look back at it in 10years time, eh?? xx

HI Susanna, yes CC has taken to his new role as Chief Building Inspector incredibly well. Too well in fact. Every morning he mews outside our back door, and when he doesn’t get any joy there, he sits on the front bay window and paws at our window and meows loudly. He’s hilarious! I think we’re on the final furlong with the work. Another update coming soon!

Hi Louise, well spotted re our hallway floor – yes we are so keeping that lovely original floor. we also have some originally cornicing in the hallway and we do want to keep that. We’re hoping for a nice floor underneath the tired old laminate that’s in the Dining Room. That would be a bonus. It’s so exciting to be a house that has retained its character. It was built around 1895 and is such a solid building. Can’t wait to put our stamp on it. I’ll definitely keep your up-to-date with the finish and also what we’re going to do furnishing-wise. Will be asking for your advice too!
