Hi! I hope you’ve all been keeping well since my last blog. I realised the other day that Scott and I have been together for 10 years, and engaged for about 7! We are still yet to actually pin down a date to get married. This is how he proposed! Too funny!
Well in a nod to the time of year when a lot of people are tying the knot, Royals included! The wonderful team at Bobbi Brown have created two lovely collection sets for us here at QVC. If you’re looking for a gift for your bridesmaids, then try this Bobbi Brown Bridesmaid Gift Collection and bag.
You get a Luxe Lip Colour in Neutral Rose, a gorgeous warm colour that suits every complexion and gives you a beautiful colour whilst leaving your lips feeling hydrated and smooth. You also get a fabulous bag and a lipgloss that gives you a high shine look but is non-sticky.
But perhaps you want something for the Mother of The Bride, then this four-piece collection is lovely. With this set you get the Brightening Brick in Tawny – this gives you a beautiful subtle glow with the warmth of a bronzer but also a lovely subtle blush.
You also get their amazing Smokey Eye Mascara Unidose and their Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Heather Steel. This is genius, you just draw it on, smudge it a bit and you get hours of budge-proof eyeshadow. You also get an Art Stick in Dusty Pink, this award-winning chunky lip pencil gives you a creamy matte finish. It’s full of shea butter so has a really creamy texture and helps to hydrate your lips whilst giving you that gorgeous long-lasting colour. But who says you have to be either of those to enjoy the sets!?
I may not have a wedding to plan for, but I have two small children to entertain and this week the kids cereal boxes looked at me and they said… adults free to Legoland, just cut out the voucher and pay for kids only. That’s brilliant I thought, stupidly not checking the price of a kids ticket. “Kids we’re going to Legoland!” I announced. “Yay” came the cries back. The whole week was filled with “be good or you’re not going to Legoland” and lots of wonderfully polite and happy behaviour followed.
The day arrived. I asked Scott to put the voucher details in to the computer and pay for the two child tickets. His face fell. Do you know what it cost? £120!!! £60 per child!! It was too late to go back on it, they were out of their minds with excitement, had been YouTube-ing videos of it all week, behaved brilliantly, so we had to stump up the cash.
I took a packed lunch for us all to try and save at least a few bob, slathered them in Ultrasun so I wouldn’t have to worry about them burning, you only need one application and it lasts all day. I’ve been using this when I send them to school on sunny days too as they won’t put any cream on them at school; and off we went.
After an eternity of “are we there yet?”, we arrived. I don’t know what I expected. To be honest I probably should’ve researched it better but it wasn’t great.
We went on a few rides, where the wait was probably about 15/20 minutes, we watched a puppet show, we then went to find the more exciting rides and waited 30 minutes for one which was just too long for them, they were not happy, and the others we thought they’d like had a wait time of well over an hour.
The sun was shining and there was a splash park, again my lack of research let us down here as I hadn’t packed swim stuff. The shop wanted £20 per child’s swimsuit and £20 a towel! That would’ve added another £60 to our day! I had to lie and say it was closing – *cue mum guilt.
We did of course buy them ice creams and Lego on the way out, and voila, easily a £150+ day. They were shattered afterwards, which was a plus!
I’m a bit traumatised, but lesson learnt. If only QVC did days out I could’ve used my 30 day money-back guarantee and asked for a refund! LOL!
Something that will help you save money and not splurge it like I have is Our Big Deals, and this week we have this great maxi dress from Kim & Co, a set from Elemis and this comfort pillow from Tempur.

And finally I just wanted to share this with you. My uncle Len passed away a few years ago and he had sheds at the bottom of his garden that he was always pottering about in. Last year I took a cutting from one of the roses growing next to his shed and planted it. This year it’s bloomed giving me big fragrant yellow roses. I’m so happy it feels like he’s here with us. Isn’t it pretty?
I hope your flowers are blooming too!
See you soon.
