We caught up with one of our expert jewellery buyers, Claire – who is preparing for her own wedding later this year – to find out more about her big day.
So, Claire! What can you tell us about your wedding?
I am getting married on the August 13th, so preparations are well under way! The theme we’ve gone for is Old Hollywood Glamour, inspired by the beauty and elegance of Hollywood’s heyday. The timeless style of the silver screen’s leading ladies like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn has inspired my dress – but obviously that will remain top secret until the big day!
What’s left on your shopping list, jewellery-wise?
I’m hunting for the perfect pair of chandelier earrings, and because I’m going to be making a statement with the earrings I’m not going to wear a necklace. I would like a simple tennis bracelet, though.
Obviously I will be wearing my beautiful engagement ring but I would worry about losing it when I’m on my hen do in Ibiza, so I’m looking for an inexpensive lookalike from Diamonique I can wear when I’m away with the girls. Their 1.1ct Ultra Thin Solitaire Ring should fit the bill.
I think I’d like my bridesmaids to be wearing their hair swept to one side, with small but noticeable drop earrings, and I’m thinking of friendship bracelets as favours to thank them for being part of the day.
Last but certainly not least, mum is planning on wearing blue and loves tanzanite, so I’d like to treat her to a pair of earrings as a surprise.
Saying that all out loud makes me realise that there’s a lot still to do!
Any pieces you’ve seen recently that are tempting you?
I really love the Diamonique by Tova mix cut drop earrings. Tova has lived the classic Hollywood glamour life for many years, so she knows the look at first hand. And I’ve seen a Diamonique tennis bracelet that I really like.
For my bridesmaids I really like these teardrop earrings (I love how they catch the light when when you move), and perhaps the Epiphany slider friendship bracelet. But I’m being very indecisive – there’s a lot to choose from.
And I haven’t nailed down exactly how I want my hair, but I’ve seen a beautiful loveRocks trailing crystal hair piece floating around the office. I’m told it’s coming in April.
And has being a jewellery buyer at QVC made a difference?
Well, the bridal range is really expanding and I have more and more to choose from everyday – so that’s been a double-edged sword! Being here means I get to see the latest looks and trends coming through – I’ll probably change everything again before the big day. I guess you’ll have to keep an eye out for the pictures!
We hope to share some photos from Claire’s big day later this year.
