My preview of the QVC Fashion Week collection – the first ever I must add.
To celebrate this season’s eagerly-awaited London Fashion Week, QVC has curated its own QVC Fashion Week collection. I was kindly invited down to QVC HQ to have a sneak preview of the collection before it went on air this week. It’s safe to say the summer is finally coming to an end and it’s now time to start thinking about warmer jackets and layers.
The first thing that immediately caught my eye was the black and white ombre-effect sleeveless jacket by Helene Berman. This is a great versatile piece which would look great worn as a smart office look or dressed up for after-work cocktails. I would team this with a long sleeve blouse, a pair of leather trousers and a pair of killer heels – but stick to ankle boots for the office. I also love the fact that this jacket has pockets; not for any reason, I just have these things with pockets.
If you aren’t a fan of wearing the monochrome trend head-to-toe, try teaming a bold block-colour, thin-knit jumper or a polo neck underneath for a flash of colour. Keep accessories structured and wear heels to lengthen your silhouette.
We are seeing more and more of these sleeveless coats on celebs, fashion bloggers and in fact in every shop on the high street – I have to say I am a big fan! It has to be this season’s favourite layering piece.
The draped khaki jacket by MarlaWynne has to be my favourite piece – I couldn’t resist a quick little try-on. This is the perfect addition to your ‘off-duty’ weekend wardrobe – wear oversized and team with jeans, a casual T-shirt, then opt for either heeled ankle boots or trainers. As this jacket is a loose fit and looks great worn oversized, be sure to keep your trouser-fit skinny or straight-leg to keep your silhouette streamlined. This is a great jacket for when you need to throw-on-and-go. I will certainly be adding this to my shopping list!
The Trinny and Susannah feather effect faux fur gilet is a must-have wardrobe essential! Again a gilet is a great versatile piece and is perfect for that ever important layering this season, especially when you aren’t quite ready to commit to a coat. It’s easy to wear with anything – I would team this with a long sleeve boho style dress and over-the-knee boots. But would also look great with jeans or trousers.
All these pieces can help maximize the existing pieces in your wardrobe. Adding a jacket or gilet can instantly transform a look – just don’t forget to think about what you’re wearing underneath.
Tune in all week to view a full line-up of shows including a Runway Show on Friday 18th September at 8pm and get involved with QVC Fashion Week with the hashtag #QVCFW.
