Elemis expert Keeley is here to share some tips and tricks on how to achieve glowing, comforted and radiant skin throughout these winter months. Make sure you let us know of your favourite Elemis products you love to use at this time of year!
Winter is now upon us, and it’s so important that we make sure our skin can cope with low humidity levels that result in dry air. Combined with central heating blasting out, this steals moisture away from the skin and it starts to visibly lack luminosity. Top this off with harsh winter weather and constant changes in temperatures from indoors to out, and your skin is crying out for hydration and protection.
It’s not just about switching up your moisturiser to a richer texture, but also about putting a plan in place to keep your skin looking as good as it did in the summer months, and keeping it looking radiant and supple.
Hot showers and baths always feel good in the winter, but make sure you bathe in warm water to avoid stripping the natural oils from your skin. The skin loves a replenishing oil as it instantly recognises the texture, so switch your cleanser to a cleansing oil no matter what skin type you have.
Our Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil is blended with over 90% natural oils, and has been formulated to balance the skin and help keep it healthy. Winter rose oil, bergamot, frankincense, pomegranate and mandarin make this the perfect winter choice. I recommend massaging 1-2 pumps of the lightweight oil onto dry skin, and then adding warm water. The oil will melt into a luxurious milky lather that cleanses the skin without leaving a sticky residue. Simply rinse off to reveal a clear and hydrated complexion.
I would also recommend applying a good moisturising facial oil under your night cream. Superfood Facial Oil really gets to the deepest layer of the skin, helping to restore its natural barrier. Starting this now will strengthen and prepare your skin, making it more resistant to environmental aggressors come mid-winter. For best results, warm the oil in your hands first, and then apply.
In the day, I would add 1-2 pumps of SOS Emergency Cream to your existing moisturiser, the waxes in the base of this balancing, soothing treatment cream give instant protection and a softness to your skin.
Your skin not only needs more moisture, but moisture right after you wash to avoid moisture loss through evaporation. Applying moisturisers to damp skin helps seal that moisture into the skin. A little tip is to always keep your face cream, body cream or balm, and hand treatments near the bathtub or shower and use liberally every time you wash.
These are the perfect tips to keep your skin comforted and moisturised in this chilly season.
