Since my last blog it’s finally happened… my first novel, a light-hearted murder mystery called The Dead Dog Day, is now out there in the world, being read by people! I had a lovely little launch party in a bookshop in Cheltenham, with some local friends, people from my publishing company and some Gloucestershire authors too, who very kindly came along to support me.
The joy of seeing my book in a shop for the first time – and in a window display too! – was enormous, I almost cried!
And just look at the fantastic earrings my publisher presented me with as a launch gift – they somehow managed to shrink down the cover of my book to earring size, aren’t they brilliant?
It was so nice to meet fellow authors too – here’s a photo of me with the lovely Katie Fforde, who has written 23 novels and is still going strong. She was truly inspirational to chat to, and we had a wonderful evening.
I was beyond excited the next day to see my book at number one in one book chart and in the top 100 on another, and the reviews so far have been fantastic, so I couldn’t be happier. To celebrate, I’m giving away a signed copy. To win it, simply answer this question by leaving a comment below this blog- you have until midnight on Thursday 5th November. Don’t forget to leave your email address in the field provided (it won’t be published).
Question: What is the name of my debut novel?
The winner will be announced on Friday 6th November 2015. Good luck!
Work has been enormous fun too. Have you been watching the new Saturday Night Show? It’s going to be on every Saturday between now and Christmas, and features our social media host Will Gowing, his mum’s dog Lola, and one of us presenters, plus a whole host of guests. Here’s a montage that Will put together of the show I presented – this shows quite clearly why I never cook, and indeed SHOULD never cook…!

I shouldn’t be allowed near water in the studio either. Halfway through our final Poppy Collection Show this week I decided to have a quick sip while Dale was telling us what was coming up in the next hour, and somehow I managed to spill the entire glass. Hence, when Dale handed back to me, I was caught in the middle of a mopping up operation, with our floor manager and my guest Bianca helping too. Whoops…
I really need to work on my clumsiness – it gets me into far too much trouble! That’s it for now – don’t forget to enter to win the book, and have a great week.
