Will: Breast Cancer Care Awareness Month…

Will Gowing Hi everyone!

October is of course Breast Cancer Care Awareness Month and as always there's lots happening here at QVC to help raise money and awareness.

I'll be heading to the Grovenor House Hotel in central London later for the Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show.

We caught up with some of the men and women modelling in the show, they've all been personally affected by breast cancer and are an inspiration to many. Find out how they're feeling about taking to the catwalk in our interview with them.

There are lots of other ways you can support Breast Cancer Care too. It could be buying one of your favourite products from QVC during our Breast Cancer Care show next Wednesday. Or what about having a Pink Party at home? Our very own Julia Roberts did just that recently - I won a Pilates kit in the raffle AND a Butler & Wilson Ruby Slippers brooch (I can assure you it went to a happy home).

QVC Towers are going to be raising money for Breast Cancer Care by having a Pink Friday this week. We're all donating some money and coming to work in a pink outfit! Mine's quite bright - you can catch my effort on Friday's Morning show.

QVC's Anna Cookson will also be pushing herself to the max for Breast Cancer Care, take a look at this…

We all wish Anna lots of luck with her half marathon, no easy task! I'd love to know how you're getting involved with Breast Cancer Care this year, that's the question we're asking on our Facebook page this morning!

Our QVC website team have been working really hard recently on our Breast Cancer Care page! You can donate online, see our web-only Breast Cancer Care products and watch videos, well worth a look.

I'm going to be catching up with our Facebook competition winners at the Grosvenor House Hotel today, they won tickets to the fashion show this afternoon. I'll have lots of gossip and pics for you so will add them onto my blog tomorrow!

Have a great day everyone and don't forget to drop me a message below if you want to get in touch!

Watched the event last year having just discovered a lump thinking “I could have breast cancer”. Unfortunately this was the case. Had a mastectomy at the beginning of the year, then chemo and radiotherapy and have hormone tablets to take for the next 5 years. The breast cancer care website has been a huge help to me on both a practical and emotional level, and I’m grateful to QVC for supporting the breast cancer care charity and keeping it high profile.

ive always admired qvc for their support to breast cancer care each october but would like to say that all cancers are awful and having lost both my parents to the terrible disease (my mum yo bowel cancer), (my dad to throat cancer)can we not support cancer across the board instead of just breast cancer….am sure the same amount of money could still be raised…..i dont think im alone in this thought…thank you….xxx

just wondered why this year we did not get the usual breast cancer care fashion show coverage and shows dedicated to the cause? i really missed this event and it seems a pity as the lower key page will not raise as much money for the charity.

    Hello Elaine,
Thanks for your comment, it’s much appreciated! I think you’re absolutely right in that all cancers are awful, and I’m so sorry to hear that you have lost both of your parents to this disease.
A good friend of mine is suffering with Prostate cancer at the moment, tens of thousands of men are diagnosed with this every year! I try and look after the relevant charities concerned with Prostate cancer, because I feel I have a responsibility there.
Thank you again for taking the time to get in touch Elaine, I love reading the comments and feedback.
    Best wishes,
    Will x

    Hi Julia,
Good to hear from you! We’re working very closely with Breast Cancer Care this year and you’ll see a lot more happening over the next week.
I have a blog online today with videos from yesterday’s fashion show, as well as our Breast Cancer Care page. I’m soon to be posting up an interview with one of last years models, who is going to be a guest presenter here at QVC!
There will be a lot more on-air regarding Breast Cancer Care leading up to our three hour live show next Wednesday. The event will have celebrity guests in the studio, live and online auctions, as well as our phone-in room to pledge donations.
I was at the Grosvenor House Hotel yesterday and QVC sent over a big filming crew to get lots of footage of the fashion show, Alison Keenan’s AMAZING speech and loads of celebrities too.
I’m really looking forward to next Wednesday, the event will be live from 7pm (until 10pm) and we’re all hoping to raise lots of cash!!
Thanks again Julia and please stay in touch.
    Best wishes,
    Will x
