I am very fortunate in the fact that I normally manage to get between six and eight hours sleep a night. Last night was the exception. I was at QVC until two in the morning working with lovely Ouida Oliver – hope you like the TSV today? It was Sophie's last shift at QVC so we arrived back at our house around 3 am.
Thankfully Sophie had done most of her packing for her Australia trip but the only thing she hadn't organised was any Australian currency. I had volunteered to pop into the travel agents to get her some as the exchange rates at the airport can sometimes be less favourable. Unfortunately, they didn't have any actual cash, but the girl in the travel agents was extremely helpful and suggested a pre-pay debit card. What a great idea, and probably a lot safer than carrying cash!
After explaining the workings of the card and finding a padlock for her backpack and a sarong for her to borrow, we finally got to bed at 4am. It was with great difficulty that I got up less than two hours later to take her to Heathrow Airport for her 9am flight.
Maybe we were both just a bit tired, or perhaps the events of the last week or two had caught up with us, but we both had a bit of a 'wobble' prior to her heading off through the departure gate on her own. She couldn't even take Jaws 2 for company as you're not allowed to take cuddly toys into Australia.I was relieved to get a text message an hour or so later to say she was boarding the plane and she sounded much more positive about her Oz adventure.
I'm heading into work in a few minutes for my 4pm show with Michael diCesare… apologies in advance for the under-eye bags!!
Much love, Julia xx
