Hello, hope all is well!
I was chatting to a friend recently who asked how long I'd been working in TV and Radio… I shocked myself when I realised its been 22 years! I have no idea where those years have gone! It's strange though how some of the most long-ago memories can feel like yesterday and more recent ones can feel like an age ago.
I remember my first day at work when I landed the job at Isle of Wight Radio in 1990. It was a brand new station and was due on-air a few weeks later. I recall arriving at the studios. We were all mingling outside, waiting to be let in, the sun was shining and I was feeling both nervous and excited. My job was to write the travel news for the afternoon show and generally be on hand to help out. I loved every minute of it.
I made it to the airwaves a year or so later. I presented the overnight show and recall the fear (like it was yesterday!) as the 'mic live' light illuminated and I spoke into the microphone for the first time. I could just about make out the weather before me, a trembling piece of paper in my hand! I got through it (only just!) and from there on my love of the media just grew and grew…
But where have those years gone?!
Take care and see you soon.
