What’s your FLAVA?

13

4FLAVA Hi there,

Just a quick post this time to say thanks to all of you who had a go at guessing the date of my can-can photo. You were all very kind saying late 1970s and early 1980s, but it was actually taken in 1975!

I was lucky enough to get a dancing job on the SS Doric, cruising around the Caribbean – more photos available on request! I was only 19 at the time and had never been abroad before, in fact, I didn't even have a passport! What a brilliant time I had visiting Berumda and Barbados, St. Thomas, Puerto Rico and beautiful Grenada, also known as the 'Spice Island'.

Which reminds me, lots of you have been requesting to see my daughter Sophie's band in action. They're called 4FLAVA, so each of them has a tasty stage name. Sophie's is Cinnamon, hence the spice connection! They have a few videos on YouTube, and here's one of them singing a little a cappella number.

Maybe I should treat her to Philosophy's 'Cinnamon Buns' body wash as a little stocking filler? Incidentally, if you're looking for a few beauty gifts for this Christmas, don't miss the Liz Earle mini-series, which starts at 9pm on Tuesday 10th November with yours truly.

Just for fun, what flavours would you associate with your favourite QVC presenters?

Enjoy the music,
Love,
Julia. xx.

    Hi Julia
What a great looking girl sophie is! She looks fab with the long hair. What a fun idea, flavours of QVC presenters. I have 3 favourites: 1- Julia Robert.. Chocolate as she is warm, smooth, rich, and always put a smile on my face, best friend kind of a presenter.
2- Claire Sutton..Peach as she is bubbly, fun, delicious and she is like sunshine on the screen. 3- Alison Keenan.. Cherry, she is fresh, radiant, and very warm, you think you have known her for years.
    Magda.

    Hi Julia,
My music ‘mastermind’ friend was saying that you and your old man were once in a group called Jools & the Fools. Is she correct? Sorry to say hadn’t heard of them. Hope Sophie makes it in showbusness.

Hi Julia, that job on the cruise ship sounds like it was really cool, you were brave to go off like that at such a young age. I watched the clip of sophie in her band they are really good, like their names too.I think the spice that would suit you would be coriander, as it is sweet, warm and spicy. I am looking forward to seeing you on Liz Earl show, Take care love from Jane x

    Hi Sylvia
Glad you enjoyed the clip of the girls – I’ll keep everyone updated with their progress. I think you have a bit of a naughty side with regard to the flavours??? I think I get the gist with my elected ‘flavour’ …….. cheeky!!
    much love

    Hello Magda,
I will pass the compliment on to Sophie – she loves ‘the hair’ too.
Loved your ideas for the flavours – I’ve always thought Ali and Claire were a fruity pair!!!!!! ( don’t tell them I said so LOL )
Hope you are in better health?
    much love

    Hi Elizabeth
If you are ever on ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ your friend should definitely be your ‘phone a friend’ – she is absolutely right. I’m not suprised you hadn’t heard of us though – we did quite a lot of studio recording but can’t remember if either of our main tracks ‘Boys Will Be Boys’ and ‘Television Heroes’ ever got released ……. they certainly weren’t promoted. I think I could probably dig out some photos if you’re interested?
Sophie stands a much better chance of making it in the music business as she has a much better singing voice than me!
Thanks for your good wishes for her
    love

    Hi Jane
Not sure if I was brave or stupid, but so glad I did it, it was a fantastic experience – very lucky girl!
I’m pleased you think Sophie’s band are good – they are doing a few gigs including a ‘support’ gig at the O2 at the end of this month, so fingers crossed!
I like the idea of being coriander. I use it when I make Moroccan Tagine – very tasty.
Enjoy the Liz Earle mini series
    love

I think your daughter Julia, looks very like you and obviously talented and beautiful. The flavours I would choose would be Claire peaches and cream flava as she is just that,Pippa bubbly pink champagne flava, she is a bubbly person. Dale dark chocolate flava,he is the silver fox but a dark expensive chocolate really.Julia for you I choose liquid cherry chocolate flava, sweet and sophisticted.Keep up the good work .

    Hello Emily
Thankyou for your lovely comments, both from Sophie and myself – a lot of people think she looks like me now although she was more like her Dad when she was little!
I love your ‘flava’ ideas although can I swap with Dale as I’m not a fan of cherry ……..LOL
    much love
