With Christmas fast approaching, we thought it would be nice to find out what some of our tech guests are up to this festive season. Mat Trim, Lee Hohbein and Ashley Turrell share their holiday plans…
“Christmas for me is all about family but unfortunately the Trims are very well spread out around the country – from Dorset in the South through Worcestershire in the West and over to Yorkshire in the North, so it’s a bit of time spent in the car. It’s also a time to update all the family photographs getting the latest snaps of my son, nephews and nieces, also a chance to show the family the latest shots of our adventures’ (and holidays) over the last year.
Christmas Day is a fairly laidback day for us with a late breakfast followed by the opening of presents before we all sit down to a glorious dinner prepared (with a little bit of help from me) by my lovely wife Pamela.
I always set up a photograph just before we eat using the cameras self-timer facility – this allows me to be in the photograph for a change – most cameras have this feature and some even allow you to take the photo using your smartphone – neat eh? I do this every year and it’s a snapshot of us over the years – little time capsules if you like, of our lives – something to look back at in our dotage.
I know it’s a bit of a “busman’s holiday” for a photographer to be taking photos at Christmas but its an important time of year when we get to see all of our friends and family and an opportunity to record these events. Believe it or not I don’t tend to get “photo” themed presents or camera gear for Christmas I have pretty much everything I need so I’m hoping to get the Liz Earle Men’s Grooming Must Haves (pictured above), the shower gel smells amazing! And lots of luxury dark chocolate – 80% is my favourite.
In the afternoon we take the dogs (Beck and Jess) up on the moor for a long walk. It’s usually fairly bracing but blows out the cobwebs and helps compensate for all the stuff we’ve eaten.
And then in the evening, after telephone calls to and from family, it’s all about Christmas TV and time to raid those chocolates.”
So the build up to Christmas has come around so fast! I have been really busy jumping between the Bose Stratford store and QVC, demonstrating and giving the Bose experience to so many new and existing customers; but most of all preparing them and getting them excited for the festive season ahead.
This Christmas I will be enjoying it with friends and family (Party Time woohoo!!!) and as I say sound and music can play a big part over this time of year. If you’re anything like me, there’s nothing more to love than having the music playing in the background whilst prepping the Chrimbo dinner and entertaining your guests throughout the day.
But if you’re lucky enough to own a Bose system for your TV then get ready for a cinematic experience because there are sooo many good movies playing this time of year! The film that does it for me has to be Home Alone 1… oh but on the other hand Home Alone 2 is just as good… Ahh I can’t decide… Lol!!
Hopefully for you guys that managed to get hold of the last Bose TSV, you should have it up and running and are already enjoying amazing sound! And if there are any of you that have wrapped it for Christmas, you must have itchy fingers and can’t wait to rip open that paper! For any of you guys that missed out, we have some Bose shows coming up in December so there’s still time : )
As always if you’re passing the Bose Stratford store, you are always welcome to pop by whether it’s to ask me any questions you have about Bose or just come to say hello. You can also now follow me on Twitter @AshleyBoseQVC and feel free to ask any questions that you may have too.
Check out the picture above of me and my Assistant Store Manager Raj with an awesome quote that is behind us, which I believe, was said about us and definitely happened to me. See you soon on the box!
Have a wicked Christmas and Happy New Year!”
Ashley : )
I’ve hosted Christmas day at mine for the past couple of years so I’m being spoilt this year as I’m heading up to Mum’s and have managed to wriggle out of cooking duties (although I will help out as I do love to cook). I have 5 nieces and a nephew aged from 3 to 21 so it’ll be a busy Christmas Day with all of us getting together and, as always, technology won’t be far away. We usually indulge in a bit of a singing competition on the Playstation (after a few sherries of course!) and I know that a couple of the kids are getting some tech treats as gifts so I’ll help them get going with them.
We’ll also be playing a few games that don’t require a plug and I’m especially looking forward to playing Pie Face which I managed to get hold of after scouring the internet. I’ll post some pics of us playing that if we can stop laughing for a few minutes : ) I may also want to find solace at some point so I’ll be finding a quiet corner to make some Skype calls to friends dotted all over the planet. It’s so nice that we now have the technology to talk and see those that are far away.
After Christmas Day I’ll be heading back home to London to pack as I’m off to Miami to see in the New Year and then on to Vegas after to attend CES (Consumer Electronics Show) which will ensure that I start 2016 getting to know all of the goodies that are coming our way (I’ll be Tweeting and Facebooking all the good stuff for you).
Wherever you are and whatever you’re doing over the festive period I want to wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a fantastic New Year. Thanks as always for all of your wonderful feedback throughout 2015 and here’s to more fabulous tech in 2016.
Cheers and have a fab time!”
