Ruth is a primary school teacher and it was lovely to see so many of her pupils at the church service and singing in the choir. The reception was held in the grounds of Basildon Park, a National Trust property near Reading, and had a country fair feel to it.
The marquee was decorated with lots of personal touches, including these wellies filled with beautiful flowers.
Back home on Sunday, I had time to catch up in the garden. I’m feeding my greenhouse tomatoes three times a week with Flower Power and they’re really romping away. It promises to be the biggest and best crop ever.
Outside, I’m trialling a new (to me) runner bean called ‘Celebration’ which has really pretty peachy-pink flowers. Hopefully I’ll be picking the first beans this weekend, so it will be interesting to see if the flavour is as good as Thompson & Morgan claim.
Elsewhere in the garden, it’s time to: cut back my English Lavender now it has finished flowering; keep picking sweetpeas to stop them from going to seed; perk up the grass with some Lawn Magic; and start some trials on an exciting new product!
