Wednesday’s Liz Earle TSV and my beauty routine revealed

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish duoI'm assured that night follows day, but my current shift pattern leads me to disbelieve this! I'm living in some kind of weird twilight world, but reading all your comments on my blog has made me smile, and it's lovely to get a snapshot of your world too.

Of course working lates does have its bonuses – bringing you some fabulous TSVs over the last week, and still several more to come. Last night was a corking excuse to dress up in my Christmas party dress for the Grand Opening of Diamonique Day – our 14th to date!

Thank heavens for Alison Young who laced me into a fitted and boned creation – but where was she at 2am when I needed to get out of it in a hurry and head off home?! Tucked into her bed I hope… it took a while but I was determined and with the help of a mirror and a coathanger I was able to disrobe rather than having to find my feet in amongst the chiffon, accelerator and brake pedals!

Tonight we have an incredible collection of Liz Earle products at a price that seriously begs belief! Caroline Archer will be joining me at midnight, and it promises to be a fast and furious couple of hours. We had a good old chin wag last Wednesday when we worked together, and both agree that this is possibly one of the best TSVs Liz has brought to you so far!

It actually gives me a very good excuse to answer the question Christine from Glasgow asked me on myGatineau Defilift 3D Perfect Design Vol Concentrate blog last week: "What is my daily skincare routine?". Particularly pertinent as it begins with Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish. It removes all make-up – including eye make-up – and if followed by the Gentle Face Exfoliator – it makes your skin squeaky clean!

I'm currently using Gatineau's Defi Lift 3D Volume Concentrate Serum which was recommended by Alison Young for my somewhat saggy skin, and I follow this with the Defi Lift 3D Perfect Design Moisturiser. Finishing off my regime is the Elemis Pro Collagen Eye Renewal – although this particular product is really being put through its paces at the moment with me averaging around five hours maximum sleep a night!

Toad All that said my skin certainly looks a lot healthier than the black toad I found in our garden this morning when I went to hang out the washing… I wonder if it's the one our cat Dodge licked? Can't imagine what he was thinking of!

Hope to see you tonight at midnight, and any tips for a better night's sleep would be gratefully received 🙂

Ali xxxx

Dear Alison, I love your blogs they are funny, warm informative and, at times, very moving. My tip for a much needed night’s sleep would be to take an anti-histamine tablet (the drowsy sort of course!)I rarely take pills but this was suggested by a TV Doctor as a one-off remedy that works without side-effects. Trying to read a really boring book also works… Good Luck. Love Jo.

Jo, bless you 🙂 I did actually take a mild form of sleeping tablet last night and it did the trick. A straight six hours, so hopefully matchsticks are not needed tonight! At least now the boys are older we all stay in bed til much the same time, so I don’t feel I’m not there for them when they’re on half term… not that they can’t fend for themselves, but I miss them now they have such separate lives. And thank you for your kind words – it means a lot. Love Ali x

Alison your tan is fantastic and you look so healthy & glowing!
I heard you say that you use a fake tan to avoid the negative effects of the sun, but I’d love to know which products you use.
    Please share your secret xxx

Hi Ali Glad you got a good 6 hours sleep and you are back to normal. Like Joanna I do agree that your blog is warm and informative and you always write back to everyone, please tell the boys at QVC to do the same, Iwrote lots of time to Antony, Simon and Dale, they never write back. Also on your QVC shows, you always smile and you”re fun and very informative. You work so hard but nothing is too much truble for you, the world needs more people like you. bless you.

    Hi Alison
I always enjoy your blogs and this one made me smile, I had this wicked vision in my head of you getting out of your lovely dress with the coathanger and mirror as aides!!!
I must say that Liz Earle is a particularly favourite range of mine, Cleanse and Polish is so dependable – it just never lets you down.

Hi Karen – yes my tan is all faux!! Thanks for the compliments and one of the reasons I use it is because I think it makes me look far healthier 🙂 I’ve just started using the Beau Bronz range of products as they smell fab and never streak, but I tend to use Sun Lab liquid tan for my face as I prefer it. On air I top the colour up with Bare Escentuals Faux Tan which is the mineral you apply with a brush and works well everywhere on the body. Try not to overload the brush and always ‘swirl tap buff’ the product off first….! If you want a little shimmer then smashbox’s bronzer is lovely. Oh, and always exfoiliate first. Hope that helps and that you have a marvellous weekend – it’s meant to be sunny. Love Ali xx

Magda – the boys are tinkers aren’t they! I may well see Dale tonight so will definitely mention it to him, and I think Simon and Anthony have been away, but will do my best to remember. I have woken up to stunning blue skies and bright sunshine – something you’re probably a great deal more used to than me, so plan to do very little and wear very little, except my Factor 900!

Lovely to hear from you Jane – and your wicked vision was spot on! Good job I was the only one in our presenter lounge as it was like something out of a Norman Wisdom film…. except for the cussin’! I agree with you completely about Liz Earle’s Cleanse and Polish, and now have it in my dressing room, complete with muslin, so I can wash my make up off before I drive home, and then just fall into bed 🙂 Mind you I looked so tired on Thursday morning that the security man didn’t recognise me and thought I was an interloper! Hope you have sunshine this morning – it’s glorious here. Love Ali xx
