Wedding dress shopping! Plus family get-togethers galore, and what my poggies are getting up to in their home from home during my move. AND how to buy the big Christmas Decleor Today’s Special Value now! (link below)
PS – hot news – It’s tonight! The big ‘singing extravaganza’ – a big thing for me – at St Mark’s church in Bath Rd, Chiswick, 7 ish – hope you can come! Don’t forget to come say hello after I’ve done my songs!
And at bottom of blog – a fab Elemis competition.
Mother of the Bride If you’re a regular, you would know that my lovely daughter Lauren asked me to go to help her look at wedding dresses for her wedding next year. Very chuffed I am too, as you can imagine. This week her ‘sister from another mister’, cousin Becky came too and we journeyed down to Bradford-On-Avon near Bath to visit a super bridal shop featuring one of Lolly’s fave designers Anna Campbell.
She looks absolutely beautiful in whatever dress she put on, but she wants a floaty lacy one, and I’m not allowed to post any pics till the big day – for obvious reasons – but I was one proud mama. She’s 5’10, size 12 ish, and a beauty! What I can post, though, is a pic of the lunch venue – look at this place – goes back to the 1500s! Bridge Tea Rooms. Had a lovely lunch then drove back to London to be on The Saturday Night Show! More soon.
Watch the Saturday Night Show all over again with the Facebook Live post, where Facebook also broadcast our show real-time, on Saturday. You’ll see the funny competition featuring lots of gin, and a super guessing game starring ‘Masterchef Royalty’ Sheralina who was guest for a brilliant soupmaker from Cuisinart.
Go here to watch the whole thing – and many items are still available! This week’s Saturday night show features the Decleor Today’s Special Value too!
Early Bird Order Link for Today’s Special Value I’ve already posted the Early Bird order link on my social media, and if you regularly go to my website on the QVC Early Bird order blog here you will see them all as soon as they become available. However, here it is right now, so you don’t have to wait until tonight (Friday 18th) at Midnight to see lovely Fiona showing us one of the best deals all year from French skincare specialists Decleor – just the Magnolia Aromessence is usually more than the whole kit! It will also be available in 4 Easy Pay Instalments too, don’t miss it. Go here to buy the 6 pc anti-ageing Radiant set now.
Sunday afternoon lunch with the family And on the Sunday, there was a special commemorative trophy being played at Surrey Downs Golf Club in honour of my late dad (I still have his clubs.) For the first time in 10 years, two of the family won it! The meal was a nice photo opp too – here’s mum, brother Glenn (whose annexe I’m staying in mostly whilst now in London working when I’m up from Devon) and sis Linda. Cheeeese!
Harvest Moon – did you see it?
Whilst in Devon, this week it was the biggest full moon for decades, and where I was all you could see were clouds! Shame! BUT here’s one of my fave pics – there were tons being posted from around the world. Hope you got a bird’s eye view where you were! Next one isn’t till 2038 or something…
Fab Book of the Week – Lee Child’s new one – Night School
Now I’m a massive Jack Reacher fan and I’ll take the big guy any way you wanna serve him up, which in this case is a flashback novel based when he was still a Military Cop in the late nineties, when sidekick Neegly was still on the scene. Absolutely fabulous as ever, full write-up is on my Read it Write it Sell it blog here.
Talking of writing, the Romantic Novelists’ Association Winter Party was on Wed eve, and new member Julia came with me. Pictured here with super novelist Mandy Baggot as well as my writing group pal Merry Allingham (her ‘Girl From Cobb Street’ series was a bestseller earlier this year), we had a super time.
I also said hi to Matt Bates from WHSmith Travel who was so fab when my Take a Chance on Me debut novel was due to be in Harrods this time last year. He asked me twice whether I was going to be bringing out a second one – so I’d better get my skates on with the follow-up hadn’t I! Plus it was nice to chat to old writing course fellow attendee, Adrienne Vaughan who is the editor of the RNA mag – pictured here with me and the talented authors Laura James and Sue Moorcroft and others.
Adrienne has requested an email from me with an outline of a feature on what a TV presenter would expect of an author, for radio or TV interviews. So many are petrified when they first go on, it seems like a great idea. Watch this space!
Getting ready for Self-Publishing and Interview Experience Thought that would make a good suggestion for a theme for a writing retreat, so I told Deborah at Retreats for You in Sheepwash, where I will be helping out whilst in Devon as I’ll live nearby. And she’s sent out a newsletter with full info about how to come down. More here. I think it’ll be a nice idea to help people who want to self publish too – some have no idea – well I’ll help where I can! Looking forward to it. I get my ‘feet under the table’ at my new place too, end of this month when the dogs finally come down for the first time. Wherever I lay my Labradors that’s my home!
Labrador Holiday Update Talking of which, I loved this pic, sent to me by pal Jane who runs doggy homestays. Daisy seems to be enjoying herself that’s for sure! Ten more days to go…
Medical Detection Dogs and Betsy Duncan Smith in the Mail Another big splash in the Daily Mail about trustee Betsy Duncan Smith, wife of Tory MP Ian, and her battle for health, together with why the MDD dogs astounded her with their skills – do read the rest here. Plus don’t forget to order some MDD beautiful Christmas cards this year – I’ve just got mine!
Couldn’t resist sharing this one from Ali last night. Lol
Considering this Sunday is the new No No today’s special value, let’s hope something like this doesn’t happen again!…
Newsletter this week – with only 37 days left till Christmas day – seriously – where has this year gone? It’s time for the regular festive sox appearances to begin… Also what happened at the Chiswick concert where I sing tonight (Fri 18th)? AN update will be posted Saturday here – click this link over the weekend to be the first to find out and also do subscribe to get the email newsletter too! Click here. Plus you’ll also see the funny pic of Rico the dog at Retreats for You, and the pic that would be his profile pic if he was on Tinder… just for fun! Lol.
Add ‘finally – stop press! Which ITV show wants me to be on it? Find out on the newsletter who just contacted me and why!’
Hehe! Plus, you have to watch this dog called Buzz, jumping up and down whilst watching one of the big Christmas tv ads – how cute is this!
‘Arrival’ starring Amy Adams and Jeremy Renner. What an amazing film I saw in Okehampton with Deborah from Sheepwash. It’s a cross between an alien movie and a ‘what if’ type film. I won’t give the twist away but it was brilliant! Loved it and its quirky concepts that were quite original. I will probably see it again at some point so a good 8.75 out of ten.
This week –
Apart from the big Decleor #TSV on Saturday, see above, there’s a fab new NoNo deal on Sunday – do join me Sunday at 8pm.

All three will be available to order before the end of Friday 25th. That’s our big ‘Black Friday’ weekend – but I’ll be away in Iceland next week, then moving the Labradors down to Devon.
