Like many other families in the UK, we are huge Strictly Come Dancing fans and so this year we decided to get tickets to go and see the live tour. Finally the day arrived last Sunday and off we went to the Birmingham Barclaycard arena!
I don’t think the children have ever seen an arena this big, their jaws dropped as we walked in and saw all the seats, it was beyond exciting! (Smelt a bit sweaty from all the concerts etc that go on there mixed with the vinegar from everyone’s chips but nevertheless was very exciting and definitely added to the atmosphere!)
As expected, the show was fantastic, the rhinestones sparkled way more than on the TV, the music was outstanding, the singing incredible and the dancing as fabulous as ever. However, what was extra magical for us is that afterwards we were able to take a little tour backstage with the Music Director and see all the nuts and bolts that hold such a show together.
Beely’s eyes lit up when she spotted where the girls all change between dances and Myles was thrilled when the sound engineer let him press buttons on the desk!! We didn’t go hunting people down as just seeing how it all worked behind the scenes was enough for us. Saying that, Georgia walked by at one point and she honestly was the same size as Beely!!! We were all a little stunned… Len was right when he called her a pocket rocket!
Then of course there was the glitterball trophy. I like to preserve a bit of magic where we can in life, so we didn’t touch it, we just got REALLY close!!!!!
Such fun, such a treat… and we will always remember to keeeeeep dancing!!
