We saw panto in Newcastle… OH YES WE DID!!

Pipa 180x230 Gosh how time flies when you’re having fun! I can’t believe it’s been since Halloween since I last blogged here… soooo much has been going on, but our recent adventure was a trip to Newcastle last weekend!

I have to say, I love London, very much – but generally you wouldn’t call it the friendliest place on planet earth. Newcastle however, now that’s a WHOLE other story!! People walk around smiling, always with time to chat, happy to help, give directions or just chat about nothing – it was so refreshing and a real treat!

Panto pic 3 400x400 So on top of feeling very welcomed by the city, we went to Panto at the Theatre Royal there which was fabulous!! I love theatre and have never been averse to a bit of “it’s behind you” but this one really was outstanding! Brilliant writing, excellent performances, tremendous 3D section, fabulous tricks, hilarious gags and amazing music (although I would say that bit as my Husband is involved on that note – pardon the pun!)

Panto pic 1 400x400 But seriously, if you’re in that neck of the woods, I whole
heartedly recommend Robin Hood – yep, in tights! Brilliant – absolutely a laugh a minute, proper laugh out loud, belly laughs and also proper out loud screams for the 3D bit too – brilliant!

Panto pic 4 400x400 The other great thing about Newcastle? Was the Metrocentre of course – wow What a great place! We literally did shop til we dropped!…and how lucky were we? The snow melted just in time for us to get around comfortably. The train ride there however was beautiful! I’ve never seen the UK so covered in snow for such a distance, truly gorgeous!

Panto pic 5 400x400 So I hope you manage to wrap up warm and enjoy Christmas. I’ve got my fingers crossed for a white one, my kids would just be over the moon for that!

Lucky you pippa, my husband and I used to visit The Scottish Borders where we had friends. They tried to get us to head south for a day in Newcastle, though we meant to, the pull of the tartan and all the fantastic Grand Houses in that area and Edinburgh always won. Wish we had made more effort, especially in the last few years there has been so much done to make it wonderful. Is’nt to great to view the countryside whatever time of year and you cannot beat a train it is so relaxing. Congratulations to your clever husband and love to you Miles and Ophelia do have a great Christmas.

Hi ladies ….oh Jean we should swap tales as I’ve always wanted to get to Edinburgh but have always ended elsewhere! We were flirting with the idea for our 10th wedding anniversary this summer but it was slap bang in the middle of the Edinburgh festival and literally, no room in the inn!!! Glad you like Yong Kim as much as I do – I feel a slight evangelist for the brand sometimes – but it’s sooooo good!!!
Susan, I went to Liverpool years and years ago with my first proper boyfriend as he was from either Rainford or Rainham – his family were soooo welcoming, in fact, my dog had diarrhoea all over their brand new hall carpet, I’ll never forget!! They were most gracious!!! Happy Christmas ladies xxx

So Glad you had a good time in Newcastle…Lovely to hear you found it so friendly…I was born in Newcastle, live just outside now… Its a great place – the town is busy and plenty going on -and not far away the lovely Northumbrian coast.. a hidden Gem..!!!
I am sure you had a good time at the metro Centre with all the shops.
My son lives in London.. Love the Theatres there, but our Theatre Royal takes some beating..!!! Hopefully he will get up to see us at xmas…watching the situation with the trains and the snow!!!
Wishing you and your family a wonderful xmas.

As Kathleen has already said Northumberland is also amazing- Alnwick castle and gardens(a must for Harry Potter fans)with its beautiful treehouse. We have tons of castles and miles of beaches.
Just in case you want to visit again!
Wishing you and your family a very happy christmas and new year Adrienne x

LOVE the panto. Sadly this year we won’t be going as my Mum has just broken her ankle and since we had seats for the middle of the row rather than the end, where she would have been able to stick her foot out, we will have to give up our tickets!

Thank you for all your lovely new year messages!! I wish you all also much happiness and health in the coming months!!
OK, questions – Shirley, my hair is done by the amazing and gorgeous John Vial at Real Hair in Chelsea, London ….. we do it every 4 weeks as I like to keep it short (and it grows like a weed!!) …plus if it was any longer, it would no doubt fall out!! The only way I get away with bleaching it so ferociously is the fact that no strand is done more than twice! Jo, I think the trousers you are talking about are the ones that I picked up at TK Maxx just before Christmas when up in Newcastle! I’ve LIVED in them!!!.. they were near the till and I just grabbed them – don’t you love it when an impulse purchase works out like that??!!
