xmas tree kh

We finally moved house – just in time for Christmas!

It’s been a long time coming! This time last year we tarted up our two-bed apartment, ready to put it on the market and go house hunting. It went on the market at the end of March. Two weeks later we fell in love with – what is now – our house. We cheekily put in an offer on it, before we’d had even any viewings on our place (eek!) However the vendors were super kind and took our dream house off the market for us until we sold ours, which wasn’t until early August.

Since then it’s been an uphill climb with the entire sale and purchase procedure. No wonder moving house is at the top of the stress scale, next to getting married! We definitely felt the pain! We’ve been on tenterhooks for months, and in the final weeks my anxiety has shown in my skin. It’s really borne the brunt of it: I’ve had a terrible breakout of spots on my face, and I’ve generally felt completely exhausted for what feels like almost 24-7.

We finally moved into our ‘Dream Home’ last Thursday – with very little notice. Austen and I were working immediately up to the move. And it was a mammoth task. So we’re here just in time for Christmas. I’m super-excited because we’ve moved from Great Barr, which served us well but – for me anyway – didn’t feel like it had any sense of community. We’ve screeched around the corner and parked up in Kings Heath, which is packed full of community spirit. A bustling High Street on our doorstep, amazing pubs (!!), an abundance of independent shops rubbing shoulders with a few chain stores, a monthly street food market on the village ‘green’, a monthly Farmers Market down the road in Moseley Village, and also a gorgeous local C of E church. In fact, All Saints Church was in the news just yesterday for erecting a 17 foot high knitted Christmas tree. So so cute! 4500 squares of 10-inch knitted squares were knitted by local people – some of them started knitting from last Christmas.

So, pleased as punch to be here for Christmas really doesn’t even cover it! I filmed a video for you, so you can go peek inside the house and see our Christmas tree.

Oh Marv you must be absolutely shattered! How you’ve managed to get through this massively stressful time and continue to work I don’t know! My hat goes off to you and Austin for not only getting it all done, but at Christmas too! You’ve obviously a great team and even though you look utterly exhausted, you can tell how much this means to you both. So delighted for you and I’m sure this Christmas will be special – and your fabulous tree is awesome! Wish I had a camera phone or even a camera ha ha! so I could send you some piccies of my trees and other decorations, but sadly I don’t have the technology – I only have my desktop which is from where I watch QVC every day whilst working at home, so maybe I should think about a smart phone for the New Year. Well, do try and have a rest so that you can enjoy the Christmas break, although I know you’re back on QVC on Boxing Day, but I wish you and Austin an extremely Happy Christmas and a very Peaceful and Healthy New Year in your beautiful new home xx

PS: As a Staffordshire girl, I don’t live too far from you, (Cannock area), and you never know, maybe one day we might bump into each other – and if I could choose a friend, it would definitely be you x Luv & Hugs x

HI Everyone, thanks so SO much for your good wishes and Christmas blessings. I hope you all are having a wonderful and relaxing festive season. I like nothing better than having time off and just mooching around doing things at a leisurely pace. As I type I’m watching a bit of Walter Mitty movie with the lovely Danny Kaye, while Austen is pottering around in the kitchen. He’s worked right through the move and up to Xmas Eve lunchtime (only had the Friday off) so the house is still so new to him.

PS You’re all absolutely right, Austen and I must have been MAD to move so close to Christmas but we didn’t have much choice and in the end…it’s all worth it. We’re having a blast!
PPS Lots of love for a fantastic New Year too! Mwah xxxxxxxxx
