We catch up with Francesca, our Murano Gold guest

Francesca Randazzo I may have been to Venice hundreds of times, but to me every time it's like the first time.

On the train approaching the lagoon all you see all around is water, with a few of the domes of the city standing out on the horizon. As you approach the town appears from the water as if by magic. You feel like you are part of a famous painting that at any minute might be washed away by the waters.

History, art, magnificence, mystery… all this and more can be experienced when walking around the city after a short ride into the centre on the famous vaporetto water bus.

I usually love to wander and get lost amongst the tiny backstreets, mingling with the hundreds of tourists, but on this visit I have no time as I'm here to meet with my Venetian friends, the glass makers of Murano.

My friend Andrea has already called me 'Dove sei?' – where are you? 'Arrivo, arrivo!… I'm here, I'm here!' I make my way down the little streets, crossing bridges big and small, watching the boats carrying their cargo up and down the canals. Venice is one of the few cities in the world to completely rely on boats for delivery, transportation or any other need you can think of, even the weekly rubbish collection!

Creating Murano glass As I arrive at the studio the flame is burning and glass is melting in the skilled hands of Monica, one of the talented glass makers. The 24 carat gold foil is laid out on the table, ready to be encapsulated within the glass and turned into a work of art.

Lots of coloured glass rods sit close by, just waiting to be crafted into another Murano masterpiece.

Adding gold foil to the glass It's a very exciting time in the studio as we're creating lots of new designs for May, and that's when we'll have our next Today's Special Value – I can't tell you any more than that as it's still TOP SECRET!

But maybe I can give you a little hint – red, gold and turquoise – what better colours can there be to represent la citta del Doge, the city of the Duke?

Evviva Venezia e Vetro di Murano – cheers to Venice and Murano Glass!

Ciao, and see you soon,
Francesca.

I HAVE BEEN TO VENICE ONCE AND TO THE LITTLE ISLAND OF MURANO. I FELT EXACTLY THE SAME AS YOU, AS IF I WAS IN SOME KIND OF PAINTING. I HAVE A PICTURE OF VENICE AS MY PHONE AS A SCREEN SAVER SO THAT I RECALL MY VISIT THERE. I ORDERED A RING TODAY AS THE PIECES ARE BEAUTIFUL. ONLY WISH I COULD AFFORD MORE.

I LOVE CLEANSE AND POLISH BECAUSE…..I am addicted to the comments I receive about my smooth, unwrinkled skin, as I will be 60 in August.

I LOVE CLEANSE AND POLISH BECAUSE….it’s packed full of good natural ingrediants that work. Gently cleanses as it feeds the skin, leaving it looking amazing!
