Well, I do hope you are enjoying the bake-off videos, good fun aren't they?!
I loved being part of it and as ever it was all a bit nerve-racking, talking and interviewing on TV is one thing, but talking, cooking and generally trying to create something at the same time is quite another!
I decided to make my famous apple crumble as I'm often taking about it and I think as you can see, it's rather scrummy. The key is lots of almondy, vanilla-y, biscuity crumble! As it's a competition though I thought I would add an extra dimension and make it a bit more special with home-made custard. I had only made this once before and it turned out rather lumpy. This time however, it turned out beautifully – rich, creamy and full of flavour. It's safe to say after the cameras went off, the crumble and custard were gone within minutes!
I didn't see Debbie or Claire on the bake-off day but I did see Kathy as I was doing the Morning Show with her. We had some friendly competition going, and she even said she might nick some of my custard to accompany her sponge!
I also saw Debbie's chocolate cake on the day but didn't get to try it and I've yet to see Claire's at the time of writing, so not sure how much chance I have of winning. I came third last time but this time I hope I get the gold. My apple crumble is a much loved dish of mine and I've been making it since I was 12… okay, emotional blackmailing over!
Enjoy the bake-off, have fun, try the recipes and most important of all, VOTE FOR CRUMBLE!!
