Spanish flag Just thought I'd say a quick hello from sunny Spain – and yes, it is sunny, which is very fortunate as most of last week they had torrential rain!

I'm here for a week with my mum and I wanted to share a funny story from our journey. As those of you who have read my previous blogs will know, my mum is 83 and she doesn't often travel abroad. In fact the first time I brought her out to Spain she asked IF she needed a passport!

For this trip she'd packed her case at home and also had her hand luggage ready. As I was at work it fell to my Chris to find a clear plastic bag to pop her small toiletries into. He also asked her if she had anything sharp in her hand luggage, to which she replied no.

So there we were at 7am on Wednesday morning going through security and mum's bag was pulled for examination. The security girl was really nice when she asked mum if she had anything sharp in her bag. Again my mum replied no. She started to go through the bag and came across a small package. 'What's in here?', she asked. 'Just a little sewing kit', says my mum. Nothing sharp in there then, except for the scissors and half a dozen needles!

The security girl carried on her investigation and found a small bag with two miniature bottles of perfume and a full-sized Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate! Fortunately for mum the security girl was really kind and let her keep everything. I wonder, have you ever had anything confiscated at the airport?

And speaking of Liz Earle, watch out for her next TSV on Saturday 17th October – I know my mum will be.

Also just wanted to say 'Hi' to a lady called Alison who we bumped into at the airport and who's a big QVC fan, particularly of Bare Escentuals. I asked her where she was flying to and she said Alicante, the same as me. We got on the plane and she was sat on the same row as us across the aisle. As we got off the plane I quipped 'I don't suppose you're going to Javea are you?' You guessed it, she was!!! What a small world!

See you all soon,
Julia. xx.

Hi julia hope you and your mum have a lovely time in spain, that was funny about the sewing kit, reminded me of some of the funny things my mum who is 77 does, one day in the summer I had gone round to visit her only to find she had smothered herself with wood preserver, instead of her suntan lotion which I must admit did look very similar, luckily I got her staight in the shower and her skin didnt come to any harm. looking forward to seeing you on qvc and the Liz earle tsv love jane x

    Hi Jane
It has been really nice to spend time with my mum – we don’t see each other as often as I would like as she still lives in my home town Nottingham.
I would like to say I laughed at your mums antic’s with the wood preserver but I shuddered – a small part of me did wonder if she suddenly looked like she had been in the Caribbean for 2 weeks! It must have smelled horrible -what a good job you were on hand to help her out!
I am back on QVC on Thursday with the Finale of the Silver Celebrations event and also on with Liz Earle TSV in the Get Gorgeous show on Saturday afternoon – hope you’ll be watching
    much love

hi Julia thankyou for taking the time to answer me and so quickly, as I know you must be very busy, it was really sweet of you. Its a shame you cant see as much of your mum as you would like, but I am sure she knows how much she is loved by you, as it even comes across when you talk about her. You were right about the smell and colour of the wood preserver, it was awful but we laugh about it now,i did forget to tell you it was before she had her cataracs done, she has just had the second eye done and said it is like a miracle, she can see so much better. [ I am so relieved as she was even offering me to wash my hands with breath freshener when we were out shopping.] I will be waching some of silver day, and Liz Earl tsv always enjoy your shows, you have great personality, and always look realy glam Love Jane xx

    Hi Julia
Love the story of your mum and her antics with the security staff! There are so many rules about what you can and can’t take with you, it’s a wonder we get anywhere when we go on our holidays! Will be watching you on saturday with the Liz Earle TSV. I have to order it, whatever it is! Cannot be without her products!

    Hi Julia
Bless your mum, that is funny though! Last year, en route to Mallorca, my teenage son had his hand luggage searched and unbeknown to me he had put a lot of Lynx products in his bag at the last minute! He was very embarrased as the young female security officer removed about half a dozen bottles and sprays one by one! He had to leave them all behind of course…poor thing.

How lovely you got a little sunshine for your Mum to help her through the winter, I had my Mum till she was ninty five and being the youngest of the family by a large margin she and I were very close. I enjoyed her company, she was a very bright woman and a mine of practical information. No one needs to tell you to enjoy your Mums company as you so obviously do,you have to be commended for the way you show your pride in her, long may she reign in your life,
God bless you Julia, I am sure she is so proud of you.

    Hi Jane
Thanks for the lovely compliments – hope you enjoyed Silver Day. Did you get the Liz Earle TSV? I haven’t tried the new foot products yet, so I am looking forward to that. Also the new fragrance – not what I expected but lovely nonetheless – a little reminiscent of a Dior perfume I used to wear called Diorella – I wonder if you were tempted?
    Love to your mum

    Hi Gemma
Hope you ordered your Liz Earle TSV? I suppose the security staff are only doing their job, and I guess it keeps us all safer, but it does seem a little long- winded at times! Baby Leo does look cute doesn’t he.

    Hello Marg
Thankyou for your message and you are right, I am very proud of my mum. She has had to deal with Breast Cancer and losing my Dad and she has coped remarkably well. It was so good to spend some time with just the 2 of us, and I pray that I will be lucky enough to have her as long as you had your mum.
    much love

Hi Julia. Can’t help but give you compliments at the moment. Looking fab girl! I noticed Palace drew. I think they were winning too were they not? We beat St Johnstone and Celtic only drew with Motherwell at home so that puts us back where we belong on top of the SPL :) We actually were dreadful but managed to grind out a result. We play the Romanian Champs in the CL tomorrow night
Others reading this thread must be saying not the bloody football again! I could go back to the old thread about your visit to Palace if you would prefer
    xxx Love Steven

I like Jadore have you tried that one? I did watch you on silver shows it was really good , I sent you a tex about how special the rose ring and pendant are to me, and wanted to share my story with you,My Nan died a while ago and before she died I asked her to send me a sign that she was happy in the afterlife, and as she always loved roses, i asked the sign to be some kind of rose that would not die, i turned on QVC a while laterand there you were with the rose ring on, I was GOBSMACKED and of course I had to have it, I saved up and bought the pendant as welland wear them all the time[ hope you dont think I am daft ] . take care keep up your good work, love from Jane xx

    Hello Steven
I guess your not too happy this morning? …….. that was a bit of a drubbing! I’m not too happy either – after the good result at Cardiff we lose to a team who were in Div 1 last season – we are just soooooo inconsistent!
You could go back to the other thread if you like, then I will know where to find you – your choice.
We have Nottm Forest on Saturday (my home town team) but no split loyalties as I was never a football fan growing up!
    speak soon

    Hello Julie
I can’t possibly comment on your claim that you should have won on Saturday as I wasn’t there BUT it was the former Palace captain, Mark Hudson, who scored the OG!! I saw your goal – woeful defending on our part, so you could be right.
I’m very happy to call a truce ………… until the return fixture!!
    much love

    Hi Julia
I hope Spain was great for both you and mum – everything is so much better in the sun eh. Mum and daughter time is so important – as you well know with Sophie. I lost my mum when i was eleven and so envy(but love to see) all mum’s and daughters having great times – its such a special relationship, your truly blessedx
Julia,as Debs Flint doesnt have a blog (yet!) can you please pass on my best wishes for Saturday(i’ll be tuning in to watch her and i know many more will be too) – her promo is great and says it all when it ends with “she’s coming home”. Another hilarious moment was when Debs used to present a midnight, usually beauty, lauch and she would bring her mobile phone on set to make her order!! Love itx Look after yourselfx Linda

    Hi Julia,
me and my Mum watch you very often on QVC. My Mum has recently been diagnosed with a lymphoma but the prognosis is good but will invlove chemotherapy, and as a result she may lose some or all of her hair through the treatment, aswell as it will affect her skin etc. I am just wondering do you know or have heard from say Alison any good products that could really help her.
She is quite a girly girl and loves her jewellery and make up. So I know that any physical change may be the hardest thing to cope with in the short term.
If you have any advice I would appreciate it very much.
    Regards
    Andrew

    Hello Andrew
I’m so sorry to hear about your mums condition but my thoughts are with you and I sincerely hope she makes a good recovery. I am not qualified to offer you advice so I would recommend blogging Alison Young for her professional opinion.
However some things she could try: Ojon treatment as it helps provide a good environment for hair to grow, YBF OR Laura Gellar eyebrow product in case she does lose her hair with the chemo, maybe some Bare Escentuals make-up as it’s very pure so would be less likely to cause a reaction. Elemis Milk Bath might be calming for her to relax in and maybe you could massage her feet with L’Occitane foot cream which has lavender in it so is also calming.
I hope this helps and do message Alison for some skin care tips.
Much love to both of you
    Julia xx
