What a lovely way to spend an evening with a good friend! My pal Shyama and I used a Groupon voucher to go up the Vertigo42 Tower (the old Natwest tower) to the observation floor, which doubles as a little bar/nibbles venue with great views!!
If you look closely in the pic above with the dark clouds you can see the Battersea Power Station roughly in the middle of the pic, then slightly towards 10 o'clock. What a view! Threadneedle Street is in the foreground of the other one. And you can see even more by walking around the other side of the 42nd floor – all safely behind solid, thick glass walls though – my favourite way of ‘doing’ heights, but a great TiFFT*!
Here’s a look around, especially so you can say you’ve seen it!

I’m planning a charity walk in memory of Holly, my eldest black lab. Well it’s time to call on your input please ladies, or anyone who lives near Dorking! The Bluebell doggy charity walk is on.
The afternooon we’re looking at is Sunday 20th July – can you come meet up for an hour or so – it’d be lovely to see you! You can help walk the pogs too!
We’re going to be asking for sponsorship, even if it’s just a few pounds, to help with the charity and the point is to have fun, fresh air and remember lovely Holly dog, my old girl who sadly passed on in March. And to raise some money for a great cause!
Email me email@example.com to find out more! And also if you’d like to come along to my book launch tea party on Sunday 29th June near RH5 6QQ – see below.
You’ll have seen Zoe from Murad on air with Alison this week and they’ll be back in the summer, but do go read the reviews online for this fabulous range.
Personally, I love the story about Dr Murad being a pioneer of early Glycolic ingredients and the resulting skincare produces impressive results. For faster-acting effects than some ranges, do give this one a go if you’re in need of a lift.
I know I do lots of other things too, that benefit my skin, including Imedeen, Tresonics/Clarisonic, and other beauty products I have to trial. But ATM I’m nearly at the bottom of my first Complete Reform Glyco Firming Complex and that’s always a good sign!
Here’s a good way of trying the range – when it comes back in stock (NN.B expect small sizes – read reviews first), see the Murad Discovery Kit online and a video explaining it all – with guest Jeff Murad and therapist Sam.
To win the random draw all you have to do is leave me a comment below, stating you’d like to enter the Murad comp. Let me know why too, out of interest – what appeals to you most about the brand? Winner next week, full T & C’s here, and comp closes at midday on Thursday 8th May. Good luck!

Book of the Week – Desperate Measures by Claire Firth
This time, we follow the fortunes of ill-matched Lady Isabelle Pennington and Guy, Duke of Rotherham.
Izzy has been put off men for life. Married off by her family, to an abusive man 35 years her senior, she is now widowed and virtually penniless.
Guy has had one wife walk out on him and has no wish to enter the matrimonial stakes again.
Two damaged people, intent on maintaining their independence. But there’s a magnetic attraction – and once passion flares it is not easily extinguished. Warning – adult steamy scenes! Lol.
Do give it a go – click here to download the eBook from Amazon whilst it’s at launch price!

We’re all feeling the benefits of having hot water with a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and a few slices of lemon every day – go here to the Monday B2U essay on my website, to find out more about why, and about alkalizing the body.
But, Chief ‘fruit loop’ Debbie Sinclair Bunn made us laugh – she didn’t have any fresh ones, so she floated her jif plastic lemon in the top of the mug! Does this count?! Lol.
The group posted some lovely updates again this week. Like the one from Seirian Thomas who’s started the #100HappyDays drive – to post or focus every day for just over 3 months, about something that makes us happy! Either that or we’re all turning into the Fonz! Lol.
Straight Edge – rebels without a hangover! Yes it’s a thing. Yes really. A movement of people all determined to ‘live clean’ – no smoking, drinking, drugs, & many are vegan – sounds a bit like my life!
But far from being boring, it’s enabling them, they say, to live each day clear headed rather than giving in to peer pressure! For me it’s more about not having something else be in control of me. Are you the same? Or the total opposite?!
More in an article in the news this week about the Straight Edge, which has been going for years apparently, having originated as part of a movement connected with heavy rock! And some are teens – loads of them are, in fact! Good for them. I think I was born Straight Edge! Hehe! Give me a cup of tea anytime – Stephen Fry and I would get along famously!
Our girls on the Facebook groups talk about what they’re giving up, and I’ve covered some of it in my latest web update on the Back to You page on debbieflint.com including:-
- relationship pruning
The site also goes over the importance of alkalising the body and tests your lying abilities.
Plus, there's another extract from my weight loss book, Till the Fat Lady Slims – just click here to read it all on Back To You page. And do sign up for the free weekly newsletters as that’s how I’ll be bringing you the latest extracts from my new book too!

He’s on regularly with Alison Young (our beauty expert, if you didn’t know) incl 4pm every Thursday. Gatineau are back with another Today’s Special Value on Sunday 11th – it’ll be amaaazing!
Congrats to my former TV Husband Tony Blackburn! In the days B.L. – Before Lee Hohbein – Tony B was my honorary TV spouse. The Telegraph had a fab article this week (click here) about his career and about his latest lifetime achievement award for 50 years in broadcasting – well done Tone!
What Type Of Person Are You? – Take this 5 minute quiz! Turns out I’m a Boss – ok, no snarky comments about being bossy! Lol! Click here to take it! And let me know what you are by leaving a comment below, especially if it surprised you!
Met my old pal Kev for lunch this week too – he’s a composer (TV series mainly) and often comes out with little gems. He said to me once how important our friendship is, 'cos you "can’t make old friends anew" – very, very true. Don’t you think?
P.S. – he’s the one in the background with the billboard when our Young Shakespeare Company played Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Old Vic in 1982. All these years later he’s just got a couple of new commissions – am very proud of my old mate! More later in the year.
We went there every year when I was a kid – to the Combe Haven caravan site – ahhh some lovely memories!
I stayed at the Cloudesley hotel run by the eccentric Sharia – what a character he is! His wifi code is a certain word and number because, he told me, “that word is a herb that kills cancer in small amounts, and kills a human in large ones, plus 1-8-7 which is the NYPD code for homicide.”??? Lol – what a character he is!
Sooo going to be an inspiration for someone in one of my books! And David web guy discussed with me how to make it easier to add a comment on my site, and how to put more freebies up – on my own website – like the first chapter of my novels and another short story I’m doing for Hallowe’en! And maybe even a podcast of me reading some of my story…
If you could listen to one of my stories, which one would it be?
Pathe Newsreels on Youtube You can imagine how excited I was to read this week that – not only are the Star Wars originals incl Han Solo (be still my beating heart – ‘I love you’ – ‘I know’..) back in the next episode of the blockbuster film series out next December, but, some vintage footage of 85,000 ancient newsreels – going back far further than the late 70’s – have now been put on Youtube for all to see – whoohooo! 85,000!
I’m going to be perusing the 1930s ones for inspiration for my novel that follows Hawaiian Retreat… Can’t say any more for now! Try this one anyway, the first flight in the world and the start of a transport revolution – from 1903! Coool!
The Butler – on demand.
Amazing film. Just loved it – every bit of it. Based on a true story of the popular black butler working in the Whitehouse from the 50s to the 90s, its backdrop is the struggle against prejudice in the USA across eight decades.
It’s packed with top stars – but Forrest Whittaker steals the show in the lead as the Presidents’ butler, although Oprah Winfrey comes close as his long suffering wife. Incredible that the life span of the subject of this biopic spans childhood days in near-slavery on a cotton farm in the early 1900’s to finally seeing Obama get into the Whitehouse.
Some uncomfortable scenes, but it’s ultimately a feel good film and its impact goes deep. Look out for John Cusack as Nixon, and Jane Fonda (perfect casting) & Alan Rickman as Nancy & Ronald Reagan.
The Kennedy assassination seen from inside the Whitehouse is also done really well. Loved it. Highly recommended. 9/10 – another high one from me!
Next week – a one day film producing workshop – how to make a film for a million pounds (well, I can dream can’t I…?!) – And a gritty thriller Day of the Vikings as Book of the Week!
Have a fab week!
