Two very special family members

Rosy Hello,

Hope you're well!

How are those Christmas preparations coming along? It's suddenly here and I have so much to do! A white Christmas is looking possible for many of us too.

I was listening to the radio a couple of days ago and a listener phoned through who'd been studying various weather patterns and is forecasting a really cold January! Time will tell – but get the thermals ready, just in case!!

Popcorn I promised I'd introduce you to two very special family members, Rosy (on the pale blue blanket above) and Popcorn our adorable hamsters – they really are out of this world. As a child I grew up in a home which sometimes felt a little like a zoo.

At one point, living under one roof, we had Kiki the parrot, Joey the budgie, Molly the English Setter, Fred and George the fish, Hilda the Hamster and two rescue cats from Cats Protection!

I can honestly say we have as much affection for our two hamsters as we had for our pet dogs and cats as children. They are tiny little balls of fluff and are wonderful. We have to keep them apart as they need to live alone. They are around 8 months old now and their personalities are so different.

Rosy  loves attention, as soon as you enter the room she scrambles down her tube and waits by her door to be taken out. She is mischievous, loves to explore and adores her food. Popcorn on the other hand is so chilled. He too loves to come out to play and after running around on your lap will settle down for a snooze. He likes to relax and take things easy and will sit quietly taking in his surroundings!

Their homes are lavish! They are spoilt rotten and for Christmas they're having an extension added! So the 2 storey hamster residence will become 3 storey!

Stay warm and I'll see you soon.

Charlie x

Be careful Charlie, When my grandaughter was 7 and she had to clean out the 2 hamsters cage (that the pet shop assured my son they were 2 males,) she went hysterical when she thought the hamsters insides had fallen out! Happy ending though she sold the 7 on for a fiver each! Happy Xmas, Pauline Howells.

Hi Charlie, they are two little cuties. I too grew up in a household that was a little like a zoo, which included cats, dogs, rabbits, hampsters and tortoises. Oh, nearly forgot the fish and budgies. I still have a house full and love every moment of it. Hope you and the family have a lovely Christmas.
My wish for 2011 is that Terri Irwin of Australia Zoo fame will adopt me. What do you think my chances are? Not good, eh !!!
    Take care,
    Gail xx

Charlie – your hamsters look adorable – I think I will have to get some for myself this year.
You, Dale and Pipa are my favourite QVC presenters – I love the way you are prepared to do any sort of show including cosmetics and Kirks Folly, and you always make me laugh

Gorgeous little critters, I bred hamsters (as well as mice, gerbils, and fish) as a girl, never having less than 5 or six of my own, each and every one with a different personality. They must give your children and the rest of the family so much fun. It’s wonderful that when you were young your family supported the Cat Protection people, it’s where our 4 cats are from, our mental Jack Russell/camel cross is also a shelter mutt. A belated happy new year.

Hi Charlie, I just wanted to say how gorgeous Rosy and Popcorn are! I too have a love for the little critters and have 6 syrians and two roborovskis, together with 2 rabbits, 2 guinea pigs and a cat! Its a crowded but happy house!
Keep on spoiling them and have a fantastic 2011!
    Kind regards
    Julie Y
