It’s been a crazy old week, I can tell you. There’s a slight possibility we might be moving before Christmas, which is epic news if all things come together. It’s been stressful just waiting and we’re surrounded by boxes, because Austen and I decided to make a start on the packing (as you’ll see in the Twister Tracks video below.)
On Wednesday 25th November at Midnight I’ll be launching the Christmas Shop Finale hour packed full of fabulous toys and homewares for you to order in readiness for the festive season. The star of the hour is a perfect gift for a car mad boy or girl in your family. Or even the big kids. Clearly our buyers knew what Austen and I were like and gave us a box to try out. Even though we were tight on space in the living room – excuse the boxes and bags – we set it up on our coffee table one night after dinner, and we had an absolute blast. Proving that you can have as much fun with Twister Tracks in a smaller space as you can when you use all the track and spread out. It’s a superb price and the perfect easy prezzie to give to kids to keep them happy over the Christmas holidays. Make sure you tune in at Midnight this Wednesday. Check out me and Austen testing it out – PS you’ll notice that I sped up the main bit in the middle of the video to save you from watching us for 10 minutes as we set it up!
On Saturday I hosted a fabulous event, really moving in fact because it was a charity fundraiser called the Courageous Kids Awards at the prestigious Great Hall on the campus of the University of Birmingham. The whole night was to raise much-needed funds so the organisation Tappy Twins can continue the good work they do going into schools and helping identify and assist children in crisis.
By crisis I mean children and young teens facing emotional challenges in life: poverty, mental health issues, depression, self-harm and abuse. We handed out 18 awards of fun things like tickets to Drayton Manor Park but also experiences like mentoring and work experience. The overall winner was a gorgeous, cheeky little 6-year old who had a dream to go to Lapland. A local MP Khalid Mahmood very gracious donated the cost of a trip for Giovaurn to go before Christmas! His face was a picture.
We also had a lovely meal, held a raffle and auction (which raised a mammoth £11,000 on the night), plus there were some famous faces: Parry Glasspool – an actor from Birmingham – who plays Harry Thompson in the top Channel 4 soap ‘Hollyoaks’, young Birmingham City FC striker, Kyle McFarlane, Jack Sims (who’s a famous video blogger, who talks to his army of teenage girl fans live every day online, and who has a striking resemblance to Justin Bieber), super-talented singer/songwriter/producer Ben Stancombe, young identical twin singing sensations, The Brooks (who got to the judges houses in X Factor last year) and – my new bestie – and outstanding singer, who I have a feeling is going to have an orbital career, Sasha Simone from Wolverhampton. Sir Tom Jones chose her to be his mentee on BBC show ‘The Voice’ earlier this year. Congratulations to the lovely Suzanne Skeete and Jo Jeffries who co-founded the awards, it was their first ever year and they did a marvellous job. It was epic and it was an honour to host the entire event.
