I’m a little sad about it as I love keeping the sparkle and twinkle up for as long as I possibly can. Still, there’s plenty to keep me busy and the January blues will soon be lost to yesterday.
There’s the house I’m still building. In fact, I’m in it right now as I type this, wishing I had brought the gloves I received for Christmas which would have allowed me to use my touchscreen whilst keeping my fingers toasty. Here’s a pic of my makeshift desk!
My son is busy bringing in large sheets of insulation whilst I take some time to trial a couple of products which are featuring in this coming Sunday’s ‘Technology and You with Catherine Huntley’ from 8pm. The lovely pink rectangular object on my ‘desk’ is a fabulous smartphone from ARCHOS. Ain’t it priddy? It’s got a nice, large (but not unmanageable) 5-inch screen, great colour display, quad-core technology (makes it run faster, our experts will explain more on Sunday) and it even has two cameras. One camera is front-facing for those essential ‘selfies’ but the one you’ll be using to take most of your piccies is an 8-megapixel camera, which even has autofocus so your happy snaps will be of great quality. It’s been really good fun to play with.
The other product I was allowed to try out was something called the ‘Picture Keeper‘. It’s soooo simple and allows you to store thousands of photos all on this little stick that’s smaller than a packet of chewing gum!
All I did was plug it into my laptop last night and off it went backing up over 6,000 of my photos. Not only does it back them up so you have a copy to keep in a safe place, but it can also sort them neatly for you into categories and if you have duplicates of photos it will only store one copy, thus saving you more space. I’m thinking of buying for friends’ birthdays as anyone who takes photos will love them. It’s also good if your PC or Mac is running slow due to thousands of photos and videos eating up your storage, as you can keep free the space on your machine and simply store the little stick away in a drawer!
We have lots of other technology on offer, too, but what the show is aiming to do is really be there for you. I know how daunting and confusing it can be if you’re venturing outside of your comfort zone.
If you think technology isn’t for you I would encourage you to tune in and also ask any questions you’d like to of our experts. You can even leave questions below and if we get them in time for the show we will answer them live on air. Tweet me at @thehuntley, while Dale-licious Franklin will be keeping an eye on @qvcuk, our Twitter account, and QVC UK’s Facebook page so feel free to get involved. We’ll be on air this Sunday (11th) and next (18th) at 8pm, and on the 27th at 9pm.
Time for me to throw a few more buckets of rubble on the skip… hopefully it’ll even warm me up a little. It’s rather cold to be working with no heating, and even colder now I’ve shed several stone in weight! For more on that keep checking back on my blog as Christianne Wolff will be joining me next Friday, the 16th, with the book that made me healthy!
Big hugs, love and happy thoughts,
