Trend watch: Our latest homeware picks

0

Summer is one of our favourite times of the year, bringing fresh colours, fun shapes and exotic prints into our home. With the help of the latest collections from Home Reflections, BundleBerry by Amanda Holden, and more of our top brands and designers, we’ve put together a quick list of our favourites we think you need to introduce to your decor.

Quality quirk

From fashion and make-up to homeware accessories, it’s all about celebrating your personality and character through your style.

Brand such as Culinary Concepts are ideal if you’re looking for unusual finishing touches for your home; with plates, tableware and more, in all shapes and sizes. These mussel eaters have caught our attention (that was kind of a pun, and it was intended). With their lifelike, stainless steel mussel shell designs, they’ve taken the messy task of taking apart the delicious shellfish and added an elegant twist.

Orla Kiely is another brand to watch if you want to add a striking touch to your home. Famed for her vibrant, iconic colour palette and block shapes, the designer follows a very simple rule with her creations: fun, function and style. This set of three dachshund-shaped plates follows suit, putting an eye-catching twist on serving nibbles such as a crisps and nuts, and making a great gift for dog lovers.

Get cagey

Wired edging has been a huge look this summer. The modern, geometric finish adds a contemporary edge to any setting. Plus, with its metallic frame and hollow shape, these picks can complement any colour scheme, offering a subtle addition for your home.

First up, Home Reflections. Their new collection has brought us these gorgeous diamond-shaped cage fairy lights and a hanging cage light. These two pieces are effortlessly on-trend, while adding the brand’s own fashionable finishing touch. We can see the fairy lights around a bed or shelving, or even inside a large jar or glass vase. The industrial-look hanging light takes a very functional structure but with a gorgeous, contemporary and feminine result. Plus, with both of these pieces, the light reflects from the metallic surface and creates a beautiful, shimmering effect.

If there was anyone to nail this summer’s must-follow trends, we knew it would be our Ambassador Amanda Holden. With a shape comprising tessellated triangles, this flameless candle frame from BundleBerry boasts a cool octagonal silhouette. Amanda thinks it would look great if you got three and placed them along your dining table. Plus the TV and stage star loves the idea of dressing them to match the time of year, from spring flowers through to winter ivy.

Succulent success

The must-have home accessory for 2017 so far, faux succulents have proven to be a popular choice for adding greenery to your indoor scene. As with our caged picks earlier, this look is all about the bare-bones structure – no flowers and frills with these, we’re afraid. We have a range of vases and succulent species to choose from, to match your decor.

Home Reflections have a varied selection of faux succulents to place on a table or hang. This set of three teardrop-shaped hanging vases are perfect for creating a display against a wall in your living room or kitchen. Next we have a fishbowl vase with a trio of faux succulents and a layer of white gravel – this has bathroom written all over it. Finally, you have this stylish geometric terrarium – note the combination of two trends – this is a trend overload and must be looked into further immediately.

These picks aren’t just for your shelves either, BundleBerry have created a gorgeous, much larger faux succulent vase which is perfect for sitting on the floor in a corner or by a lamp.

Making your museum

From classic to contemporary, we’ve got a gorgeous array of vases which will instantly transform your dinner table, mantelpiece or windowsills. You can choose to fill them with fresh or faux flowers (enter Peony), but we like the look of these picks on their own.

With its curved shape and smoked optic glass, this Peony vase oozes vintage class and is easy to fit into any existing colour scheme.

You can tell Kelly Hoppen’s catalogue takes inspiration from a wide breadth of cultures, eras and natural wonders. These two designs are top picks for us, with one featuring a tinted, hammered glass body and copper base, transporting us to the warmer climates of Morocco. Our next fave is a glass vase with modern etched detail, in a sleek grey colour. Pieces like these are ideal starting points if you’re re-decorating, they instantly set the tone and help with creating a cohesive finishing look for any room.
