Travelling not-so-light

Hola and greetings from southern Spain where we are definitely having a heatwave!

Phil Parker – who lives in Spain and flies in especially for all our cleaning shows – warned me how hot it would be and he wasn’t wrong. I’m currently in the Cabogata region of El Toyo, which apparently is one of the hottest places in Europe. Thank goodness for Ultrasun

When we checked in for our flight at Gatwick our baggage was slightly over the allowance. Luckily the kind man on the checkout took one look at me (it was 4:30 in the morning, so not a pretty sight) and didn’t charge us – my husband remarked it was because I had half of QVC’s warehouse in my suitcase!

I laughed but once I started unpacking at the hotel I realised just how many of my ‘holiday essentials’ I had brought with me. As you can see from the photo I’d brought almost every beauty brand we sell with me, and these were just the essentials – you should see what I use at home!

I honestly really couldn’t make do without any of these products on holiday, but I thought I would try and pick out my top three holiday must haves.

The number one spot would have to go to Ultrasun’s Glimmer SPF20, which is definitely the most glamorous serious sun care product I’ve ever used. It leaves a lovely sophisticated shimmer to the skin without being glittery and of course comes with the unrivalled once a day application that Ultrasun offers. Although, of course, I couldn’t do without their Anti-Pigment Face SPF50+, or the Sports SPF50 for the children – and now my son knows that professional footballers use Ultrasun too he is all for it.

My second spot would have to go to L’Occitane’s Almond Oil shower gel. I have used it at home before but this is the first time I have brought it on holiday and it is just perfect. The oil turns to a really rich nourishing milk under running water which is so soothing to the skin and really moisturising, especially after a day In the sun. I will definitely continue to use it once I get home to make sure my skin doesn’t get dry and hopefully prolong my tan.

My third and final place goes to the ecoegg Stain Remover! Not a beauty product I know but definitely a holiday essential. My children seem to always drop food down them on holiday and if anything they are getting worse as they get older. Those pasta sauces and chocolate stains are a nightmare to remove if left in a suitcase for two weeks, so the ecoegg is worth its weight in gold (or even my suitcase). I’ve used it five times already and I’ve been here less than a week. I’ve been really impressed with it at home as a pre-wash but on holiday it’s a must-have – at this rate we’ll be going home cleaner than we came.

Anyway, I hope you are all are getting some good weather at home. I’ll be back with you soon meanwhile I’ve time for some more sunshine and a few sangrias.

Jilly, I laughed out loud when I scrolled down to your photo of QVC featured brands.
My hubby looked up and said “The worrying thing for my pocket is that you can name all the brands by the packaging, which must mean that you use them all too!”

You have given us Sun Envy with your heatwave, enjoy your break.

Hi Cathrine, how funny. I must admit I surprised myself how much I had. I should have run a competition to name the brands I’m sure you would have won! Take care, Jillyx
