With Christmas in July kicking off at Q Towers, there’s one department in particular that we are welcoming back with open arms: toys!
That’s right, our much-loved Toy Shop has opened its (cyber/ television wave) doors to give you a fantastic selection of gifts for all. We caught up with one of our associate buyers, Amy Jones, to see what the team have planned.
‘I couldn’t be more excited about this year’s toy range at QVC.’ Amy reveals: ‘This year, we are bringing you toys to put a smile on the face of fun-seekers both young and old!
We’ll see the long awaited return of some familiar faces like Mardles, Twister Tracks and Flashpad who are treating us to brand new concepts and innovations. We also have a few new kids on the block so keep your eyes peeled for some bright and shiny new toys too.’
We thought we’d check what Amy’s predictions are on 2K16 toys we’ll all be after: ‘Flight is definitely a hot trend for this year, we have a number of flying gadgets to keep friends and family of all ages entertained for hours!’
But let’s not skip our must-have toys, and get back to buys for July, or… Ju-buys (nope, doesn’t work).
Hot toys for July
It’s the long awaited launch of brand new characters from Mardles – kind of a big deal in the playground. We’ve got two options, Explorer (pictured on the right) and Fluffies (pictured left), available in sets of four – the biggest bundle we’ve offered to date! Plus, we have a set of two scene books – sold seperately from the stickers – so children can create their own fantastical stories.
Amy says: ‘The pricing is great and makes gifting really easy as you can buy for up to four children in one go. Both choices include two brand new packs and our most popular packs from last year.’
Launching with Christmas in July, this glow-in-the dark accessory pack is perfect for expanding a little ones’ Twister Tracks collection to make it the ultimate set.
You get a luminous track, two splitters, two doors, two rotating signs, a bridge or tunnel piece, plus two sheets of stickers. This combination of bits and pieces is perfect for boosting childrens’ creativity while they have even more fun!
Start your engines! This brand new set of three Twister Tracks vehicles can be used with any track from Twister Tracks – including the 360 loop – and can be enjoyed off-road too. You get three cars; one each in orange, yellow, and blue and each vehicle features five LED lights, including two multi-coloured headlights, two multi-coloured lights in the body, and one black light – your child’s energy will literally light up the room!
David Strang from Wicked will be back to see us with some brand new toys, including a giant inflatable ball, with a pump included, called the Mega Bounce. David will also be bringing us a pack of sky spinners which are frisbee-like toys and great for learning tricks to show off to your friends.
Amy says: This heavy-duty ball bounces high into the air and almost defies gravity!
We’re bringing back everyone’s favourite interactive touchscreen game later on in the year, so keep your eyes peeled!
Amy says: ‘Make sure you look out for this one. Lots of people missed out on this last year as we sold out early, so this will be hotly anticipated!’
In a few months we’ll be seeing brand new innovations from James and the team at Mardles. Putting a modern twist on classic toys, they are bringing colouring books to life. Using the latest modern technology they can get your own character creations moving around in scenes. It’s great for learning too as each scene is loaded with educational facts – so they’re putting the fun into functional!
Amy says: ‘Adults love to see their children getting creative and designing, but kids love their smart phones and tablets. This new DiscovAR toy combines the Mardles magic you’d expect with a fun and creative 21st century colouring book.’
If your kiddies love Twister Tracks, we’re getting that toy-tingling sense that they’re going to love Twister Trains too. This set includes accessories, track pieces and a train with two carriages – in other words, hours of fun!
By the looks of all of these fantastic toys ready to grab, we should all take a leaf from Amy’s book, and as she says: ‘Start ticking off your Christmas list from July!’
