What are your tips for styling Northern Nights?
As the lazy days of summer start to fade, it's time to start layering. Think warmth and luxury.
Our new Northern Nights range has a rich collection of dusky pinks, sensuous purples, designer silvers and warm chocolate colours that reflect the change of season and will help add touch of cosy luxury to your room.
New soft furnishings can definitely make a dramatic difference to the look of your room. Here are some of my top tips to help you achieve that designer look:
- Mix it up: use different patterns in complementary colours, such as florals and checks
- Play with the scale: oversized pillows, large rope tie-backs for your curtains and floor lamps make a stylish statement. A large chair in the bedroom is a relaxing place to read (or set your clothes out for the next day)
- Make it cosy: chenille, basket weave, tartan, patchwork and cable knit throws look stunning at the foot or centre of the bed and are a practical way to ‘cosy up’ as the nights draw in
- For a fast and dramatic change: add large or small picture frames to your walls or bedside table and fill them with patterned, striped, floral wall paper or even wrapping paper. Current family photos work well too
- Add a sense of warmth: adding a new bedside rug to wooden floors will make the room feel warm as will lamp shades in soft or bold colours
The most important atmosphere I want from my bedroom is that of calm and serenity – a place I can relax and dream in.

What are your must-have Northern Nights item this season?
Serine: I love a good night's sleep and changing the way you achieve that can be as easy as placing a featherbed on top of your existing mattress. I have created a variety of featherbeds that meet different sleeping needs and my personal favourite is the baffle channel style.
The baffle channel design helps prevent the excess shifting of feathers whilst allowing for maximum breathability. This creates an extremely fluffy featherbed that lasts through years of use. The baffle channel featherbed is my definite must have for the season.
My very first down duvet was given to me by my sister Serine and I haven’t slept under anything else since. It is so lightweight and breathable yet keeps me warm and comfortable night after night. The Northern Nights down duvet is my must have for the season – thanks big sis!
Love Serine and Kari,
Sam, what is the best way to care for your bed linen?
Northern Nights linens feel so luxurious and silky against the skin, you would be forgiven for thinking that they need extra special care and handling when washing – although nothing could be further from the truth!
Due to the high thread counts and exceptional quality, your favourite Northern Nights linens can be washed and laundered just like regular bed linen.
For the very best results, I recommend you wash on a 30C degree wash. I don't use fabric conditioner at home as I find Northern Nights linens don't really require any – but there are no rules and if you prefer to use one please do.
Drying will obviously depend on the weather! In my opinion nothing quite beats the freshness of line drying, but if that's not possible, don't worry as you will still get great results from tumble dryer - again use a lower setting for best results.
Whether you love or loath ironing, taking the time to run the iron over your Northern Nights linens will give you a beautiful finish. A good tip is to take them off the line or out of the dryer just before they become bone dry. This makes them a little easier to iron.
I'm really looking forward to the Northern Nights Anniversary weekend, so please join us for even more tips, ideas and fantastic luxury linens from all the team!
