Toby turns 2, and other news…

Toby on his 2nd birthday Well it's busy, busy, busy – so many great shows lined up in the big Christmas rush!

It was great to meet up with lots of Diamonique customers the other day. Every time I meet customers they always without fail say I look younger and slimmer in real life.

Now I'm sure it's meant as a compliment but conversely I therefore look fatter and much older on screen, which after all is where I am supposed to look at my best!

Oh well, next time you tune in and wonder who the old chubby fella on screen is – don't worry – apparently he looks a little better in the flesh! I'm only having a bit of fun – it's true that most people appear to put on weight on screen and I'm probably rubbish at putting on my make-up – I must have another chat with Ali Young soon!

I know many of you dog lovers out there like to see pictures of Toby, so I've included one taken on his second birthday last month. I've left it a while to take any photos of him as a while back he went to a very inexperienced groomer who had obviously only ever clipped poodles, and she gave Toby the classic poodle trim, including cutting his ears into a French bob!! His agent has banned any photos of those from being shown !

Anyway, hope we are giving you plenty of gift ideas, why not let me know if we have?

Take care,
Dale. x.

    Hi Dale
Watching you on QVC today with Pipa and you were on about your hair and your weight.Well I think you look lovely just as you are!Happy birthday to Toby. I unfortunately lost my wee poodle last week,he was 15yrs and god how I miss him.I have been to see a lady nearby and have picked 2 new puppies which I will pick up in 4weeks and bring them home to hopefully have another 15 years of happiness.I couldnt be without a dog, they give you so much love as you know already Dale. The new puppies are Jackadoodles x Chihuahuas,I dont know quite what they will look like but I will love them whatever.
    Take Care Dale

Thanks Nettie67 – I’ll make sure I keep you updated with more “Toby” pics ! And Sylvia, what a fantastic mix ! Those pups will be a handfull – the’ll be small but don’t tell’em because they’ll think they are Great Danes! One of Toby’s best Pals is “Toastie” a Jack Russell Norfolk Terrier cross and he has the heart and spirit of a Lion! We had a Beardie “Emma” for 16 years before Toby and whilst you never forget them, having a cheeky puppy or in your case 2 around the house does ease the pain and also brings much joy and a little mess into your home. Enjoy them both Sylvia. Dale x

Toby is the cutest dog i’ve ever seen. He looks so cuddly and he’s obviously well looked after. I’m been watching you today on the silver extravaganza with Alison. You’ve really brightened my day up. If i were you i’d keep wearing the ties. They look great on you. Very groomed.

Hi Dale – You look great on camera but your comment about supposedly looking fatter on TV reminded me of a joke from an old episode of ‘Friends’, I must share it with you – The gang are watching an old home video of Monica when she was a very obese teenager, and feeling rather embarrassed she announces: “I wasn’t really that big – the camera adds ten pounds”, to which Chandler replies: “How many cameras were on you?!” Hope that made you chuckle – you look as slim as a pin and are such a great presenter – and Toby’s ageing well too bless him! Take care, Lisa. X

Hey Girls thanks for all your comments. Yes Chantel we managed to find a professional groomer, who knew about Beardies!Toby says thanks Cheryl He had a great birthday, but you’re so right, 2 years have flown by. Rebecca, the tie thing is a difficult one and I’ll just have to ‘tie by the seat of my pants’. Lisa, love your ‘friends’ story – it explains a lot as I have 4 cameras on me most of the time ? Dale x

Hi Dale, like you we are on our second Beardie, a lovely slate girl called Bonnie. She will be having her first birthday on Boxing Day. Can’t say I am looking forward to present opening on Christmas day as her favourite pastime at the moment is paper shredding, at which she is exceptionally accomplished!Hope you, your family and of course Toby, have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
    Kind regards, JillyP x

Hi Dale,I think you are a lovely presenter, and I think you look like Stewart Granger, your pup looks lovely,we have a crazy Boxer called Moby. One little gripe though Dale ,will you please, please stop calling EVERYTHING “beautiful” on air its driving me nuts, you called a cardboard box beautiful before(that was quite funny tho),Agen instead of again is another common one,its bugging but quite funny though.,should’nt grumble really ,I watch QVC nearly all the time.missing you all today 25th,back to normal tomorrow. All the best Hazel

Thanks for all your comments, much appreciated, as always. Hazel I’m sure you’re right – I pride myself of finding different ways to describe an item, but especially when I’m either tired or distracted for whatever reason I might become repetitive ? I once described a lock & lock box as beautiful ! There were mitigating circumstances – honest ! till next time. Dale x
