Toby and the snow

Dale and Toby Hi everyone,

It’s all been happening, so much to catch up on! Is it just me or is this year flying by?

Obviously the weather has dominated the news and had a major impact on some of my colleagues yesterday – huge thanks to Debs, Claire and Simon (and any others!) who held the fort, otherwise known as QVC Towers.

The snow seemed to affect the presenters living South of London more and several of us were snowed in for the day. I know those of you who live North of London are probably wondering what all the fuss is about, but we rarely get much snow in the Home Counties and we weren’t prepared for the amount that fell. Why couldn’t it have fallen on Christmas day like it does in the movies?

I’m still getting requests for more updates on our puppy Toby – thanks for this – I didn’t want to go on too much about him in case it became a little boring. But he’s doing really well and loves the snow – it loves him so much it hangs off his coat in huge clumps! But he doesn’t complain, he just attacks it with relish!

He’s just over four months now and still has plenty of growing to do. We have to keep remindingToby in the snow ourselves not to over exercise him as he loves his walks and never seems to tire. He’s a constant joy to the family and makes us smile all the time – even when he’s trying it on, as he becomes more confident.

I’m a huge fan of Cesar Millan ‘The Dog Whisperer’ and Toby is a very keen member of our pack. It’s so easy to slip into bad habits or humanise our dogs, but everyone ultimately benefits from calm leadership, boundaries and limitations.

How did the snow affect you? Let me know by leaving a comment.

Love Dale and Toby x

    Hi Dale and Toby
Toby is ADORABLE!!! He is so cute. Glad to hear he enjoyed the snow. Our neighbours have a puppy and he loved being in it the other day. Glad to hear you take tips from Cesar Millan, he is the best source of advise on how to train puppies and older dogs too.
As soon as we are able to we are getting a puppy, bit of a debate as to what breed though. Would love a Spaniel but hubby wants a Jack Russell, not my cup of tea.
Feel free to waffle on about Toby, I would love to hear more about what he gets up to.
    Take care.

    I Dale and Toby.
My how Toby has grown, but he is soooo lovely. I have told you before I have a Jack Russell her name is Mia. I know what you mean about trying it on. Mine does it all the time. Mia loves the snow also but I have to be careful, as she is so small. It is hard to believe that they grow so quick, and how they age! I cannot believe that Mia is 4yrs oold in April. Enjoy Toby as he is, amd always will be faithful to you and all your family.

I live in Toronto Canada and was enjoying the fact that you too got some major snow…..well major snow for you! Just think, you could be out shovelling your walkway, driveway and cleaning off your car EVERY DAY if you lived here! It is presently -16C…and believe me…that’s cold. I particularly loved the pix of Toby. I am a dogwalker here in Toronto. The pooches I walk have wee coats and some have boots. Feb. 02 is Groundhog day, and that means if Wiarton Willie comes out of his hole, sees his shadow…we will have 6 more weeks of winter. Well guess what! Willie saw his shadow! I expect that your snow will not stick around for too long…until here in Toronto…..looks like 6 more weeks! Gail

Hi Dale, your puppy looks gorgeous. I love Cesar Millan’s methods to. We took on ‘Betty’ a five year old Staffie rescue last November, and she is doing really well with us using Cesars methods. Did you know he does some great products to…. but only availbale in the US. Might QVC UK be able to persuade him to market his training items and books with my favourite ‘Shop’ ! I’d love to bring Betty to the studio to meet Cesar and get his autograph. Just a shame he wouldn’t be able to bring his ‘Daddy’ the Pitbull with him because of quarantine.

    Hi Dale and Toby,
You could never be a bore especially when talking about Toby. He is a beautiful dog, I could just pick him up and cuddle him and never let go. When Brandy was alive the first time he saw snow he just didn’t know what to do couldn’t make it out at all but he soon loved jumping in it and the cold didn’t bother him at all.
‘he just attacks it with relish!
re the above has he tried it with tomato sauce???? Sorry couldn’t resist, and I can hear you saying ‘I wish you had.’

    Hi Dale,
I am sure Toby has bought you & your family a lot of joy & happiness. We have a 3 year old Golden Cocker Spaniel, called Sam. He is such a big part of our life and it’s like Christmas day everyday, he’s so happy to see us at the start of a new day. Love to see more pictures of Toby, i think we have a picture of Sam doing just about everything! They really are a man’s best friend!

Toby is absolutely beautiful. I want him.
My golden retriever saw the snow for the first time today and he has just turned 3, he loved every minute of it, but it’s melted now.
We are also a huge Cesar Milan fan and so is my dog, he watches it, he he!! So Cute!
It is lovely to see Toby coming on so well and i could never bore of hearing about him.

Well I live in the Centre of London (Hammersmith) and the roads/pavements were almost impassable for two days. If
you wanted to fall about then it was possible to get out, but I decided not to try it. Thank God, the snow has now gone even though it was so beautiful. I am
sure Toby is glad too if the snow was hanging off his
    fur. Best wishes. Kathleen

    Hi Dale and Toby
Wow Dale, Toby has grown, and I’m glad he enjoys the snow, my little rescue yorkie Jess was in the yard in the snow on Tuesday morning and again this morning, she soon ran back in though.
I’m grounded for the time being because it isn’t safe for me to go out in my wheelchair otherwhise instead of Dancing On Iced I would be zooming on ice ha ha.
Anyway see you soon back at qvc towers.

    Hi Dale,
I’ve just been catching up on your blog and updates on Toby – who is adorable. I wasn’t sure whether he was an OES or a Beardie. I have an Old English Sheepdog puppy whom I show and will be showing at Crufts this year.
I look forward to reading more about Toby.
    Take care

    Hi Dale,
What a lovely puppy Toby is, we had a Bearded Collie he was 14 when he died he gave us years of pleasure his name was Bouncer for obvious reasons. we now have 2 golden retriver puppies they are 9 months old nearly Cassie my little bitch is so naughty she looks at her reflection in her water bowl puts her feet in and tips the bowl over. The other day she was standing in my fish pond looking at her reflection, her lovely white coat was black, her brother Monty just looks on as much to say what is she doing now but we would not be without them. Enjoy your lovely Beardie they grow so quickly
    take care Anne x

    Hello Dale,
I really envy you the snow – up here in the Outer Hebrides we hardly ever get any decent falls any more.
Toby is so cuddly looking – I adore my two dogs and know you must be so happy to have another beardie back in the family.
    Love Carol

Hello to all – It’s great hearing from everyone of you all and I’m thrilled Toby is so popular with you – he continues to bring such pleasure to our family and I’m very happy to keep updating you with news of him, as long as it doesn’t become too boring. Please feel free to post as many comments as you like about your pets or make suggestions like Barbara’s one about the “Furminator” or Claire made regarding Ceasar Millan products (Both of which I am raising with the buyers).
    Thanks again. Dale x
