I’ve been working on the late shift this week which has meant I’ve been able to enjoy the fabulous weather we’ve been having. I’ve spent hours out in the garden watching Tracey break her back on the weeding and tidying up… oh the joys of spring! OK OK I’ve been helping out, honestly.
As it’s the UK let’s enjoy it whilst it lasts. That includes walking Toby over the stunning acres of heathland we are lucky to have around us here. As long as he can see where he’s going that is! As I’m sure many dog lovers amongst you know mature Beardies have a very long shaggy outer coat, but when they're young they have this beautiful soft fluffy coat.
Toby is caught at that stage right now and we noticed that he was barking at shadows and walking into things, and then we realised that his hair was covering his eyes entirely. Just cut it I hear you shout! But despite a regular trim by yours truly, the hair is definitely winning.
We know from our last Beardie Emma, that if you can get over the next few months of growth, the hair actually starts to part naturally and becomes less fluffy allowing the dog to see!
So 'the hairclip' was donated by my daughter Alex and I have to say it has worked a treat, apart from the fact that my son Jack is now embarrassed to walk Toby when he's wearing it – the alternative is a punk top-knot Jack! The clip certainly didn't slow Toby down however, look at him go (right)!
This got me thinking and I was wondering… do you dress up your pets? I have actually met a lady who bought a Diamonique bracelet for her cat to wear as a collar!
Let me know if your pets wear any kind of clothing – I know we're not in LA but I’m sure there must be some great stories. Let me know and thanks for all your blog responses, keep 'em coming!
