Time out!

6

Italian beachHi everyone, hope you're all well and keeping warm and cosy with the recent drop in temperatures. Last weekend saw my hubby and I get away for a few days on our own. First time, I think, in around five years we've been away just the two of us.

As much as I love going away with the family, it was lovely just to have a bit of a "twosome time out", as it were. We went over to our place in Italy, and as you can see by the photo, the beaches are very different in November. Deserted!

We had some great walks, lovely food, read books, and watched DVDs. The weather was great and a fab time was had by all, along with the resolution not to leave it another five years till the next time.

Next week will see me gushing over little Sophie again as I head up to Nottingham for a couple of days. So be prepared for some pics in the next blog!

I know everyone's saying it, but I really can't believe it's just four weeks till Christmas. I've made a start (mainly thanks to QVC and some fabulous TSVs) but still plenty to do. Are you all organised?

Every year I give myself a cut-off date when, in theory, everything should be done, wrapped, posted, decorated, with only the food shop to do. And every year it's the usual mad panic! Cut off date for this year is…19th December! So go on then, if you were of the gambling persuasion, what odds would you give me?

Take care, you lovely lot,

Anne x

Hi Anne, beautiful photo of you. But then why would it not be!? Interesting that Italy is still ok temp wise mid Nov! Very glad you both had such a lovely time. I would absolutely do anything for some time out now but not to be! Hope you have a lovely time with Sophie. Can’t wait to see how she’s changed. Enjoy! Love Susan x

    Hi Anne,
Lovely photo of you! My partner and I love Italy – 3 years ago, it was Lake Maggiore, this year it was Sorrento and now we’re saving up for the next one – I’ve told him we need to be near water (again!).
Good luck with the remainder of your Christmas shopping and getting things done – I’m not a betting person but I know you’ll be sorted, you do strike me as v.organised!
Enjoy your cuddles with Sophie and take care,
    Beth XX.

    Thanks Susan,
Your lovely comments as always mean a lot . Yes I have to be careful with my Sophie pics. I could easily go a bit mad!! She is indeed changing but only in terms of getting bigger as she loves her grub!! (A bit like me really:)!!) but still looks very much our little Sophie.
Hope things settle down a tad for you as we approach such a hectic time of year.
Sophie photo update coming in next blog in about a week :)
Lots of love to you Susan

Oh Beth! I do wish I had your confidence. In many ways I am very organised (usually to do with looking after the family etc) but Christmas isn’t one of them!! It’s all usually last minute.com. Best of intentions every year, but it’s usually Christmas Eve when I finally heave a sigh of relief that everything’s done. I am determined though this year. At the moment we are about 60% of the way there. Update next week on my blog:)
We go to Italy a lot but haven’t actually been to Sorrento. It’s on the cards for hubby and I next year hopefully.
I have heard how lovely it is. Have you ever been to Sicily Beth? Beautiful!!!!
    Take care

Hi Ann, it is fantastic to see your photo of your trip to Italy,a country which I love too. I think you have to find some positive aspects to children growing up and moving away, and for us, this is undoubtedly the chance to spend time together, just the two of us, where we are at the top of the list for once, and that time is so precious. Just wanted to say how much I have enjoyed watching you over the year, your true enthusiasm shines through. Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas, and a Guid New Year, lets tak a cup o kindness yet, for Auld Lang Syne. Love Morag xx

    Hi Anne,
Thanks so much for your reply! Sicily is on my list of possible places to visit so that has planted a seed which is going to grow!
I can recommend Sorrento, the hotels are wonderful, the people are friendly and the coastline is stunning. It’s just that I need to dip my toe in seawater and I didn’t get a chance to on the holiday. We visited Mt. Vesuvius – very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere at the top (luckily!)- you could have heard a pin drop, it was so quiet. Pompeii is not to be missed plus Herculaneum.
Hope you’re on the way with the Christmas things to do list!
