Time flies

Hiya, hope all is well.

I've mentioned it in passing in previous blogs, but on a more focused note – where has this year gone?!

October is just around the corner now. I remember January and February of this year like it was a few weeks ago. I'm also wondering where the last ten years has gone – it's raced past.

I joined QVC in January 2000 and I remember my first show vividly. I was so nervous. It was a Monday morning and my first hour was 9am, and the show … Jewellery Outlet!

Since then I think I've amassed in excess of 5,000 hours on air (some rough number juggling on a calculator going on here)! I'm also roughly calculating that's over 40 million words spoken!

I also recall my first purchase with QVC – a Morphy Richards breadmaker – but since then I've lost track! I've dipped into all departments here over the years … Charlie Bears (of course), beauty, technology, jewellery (many, many times!), the list goes on and on, and most recently the arrival of the South Sea Pearls 'One Time Only offer' I picked up from Gem Day last weekend.

I'm still trying to sort out my mobile phone (you may have read previously how my phone encountered custard … I don't recommend it!) so until that's sorted I'm a little limited on getting some photos for the blog!

If you have any theories as to why time seems to be going so quickly I'd love to read them. A friend of mine thinks time is being compressed and therefore speeding up! Thus, time is speeding up! However, because everything (according to his theory) is speeding up, it's all relative so we're not really aware of it (although, maybe our subconscious is!). Quite a theory I know! It reminds me of a question that was presented to me years ago: if travelling in a space craft at the speed of light, would the headlights show the way ahead?!

Take care and see you soon

    Hiya Charlie
You are so right about this year flying in!! I remember Julia launching the first TSV of 2011(New CID cosmetics) and the three coloured selections(i’m a QVC beauty geekx) and also Dale presenting that mornings Nails inc show and you presenting the early(into late) evening hour that day(first January) because i remember thinking how well you guys adapt to presenting these types of primarily female dominated shows – especially Dale, because you’ve been presenting beauty shows for a while(talk about giving a compliment and taking it back in the same breath!!) and you do these shows well – i love the way you open the nail polish bottles and present the brush and polish like you are showing a diamond ring – love it. as you will have gathered i’m a QVC beauty fan – but have been tempted by many other departments since joining QVC in January 1995 – my first purchase was a blue sapphire and diamond ring sold to me by the lovely Dave Bradford(no longer with QVC).I’m watching bits and pieces of the Christmas weekend(i purchased the Yankee Candles TSV – great value). Look after yourself Charlie. See you on QVC soon. Linda,Glasgow

Hello Linda, thanks for your comments. I do enjoy presenting beauty shows so very very much. I don’t claim to be an expert but I have learnt so much from our experts over the years! Infact, I’ve been let loose on bare escentuals this Sunday 2nd Oct (wow October already!) at 5pm.
    Take care
