Time flies!

Football Do you ever have a week go by so quickly that you're not sure if it actually happened? That was me last week! I drove up to Nottingham after work on Friday 20th March to fetch my mum so she could spend Mothering Sunday with us and I can't believe that was 12 days ago!

Incidentally, I hope you mums out there are being loved and cared for! Mum and I did a spot of gardening, watched Daniel's football team win their match 3 – 0 and had a tasty dinner followed by homemade chocolate cake. It was great to spend time with mum and not just because she helped me start the spring clean up in the garden: it's amazing how much gardening knowledge I've picked up from my parents.

Did any of you catch the programme about Brian Clough last week? As a Nottingham girl and football fan I felt it was my duty to watch and I'm so glad I did. I loved the quote from his wife Barbara, 'Brian was the best manager England never had'! I met Cloughie once at a pre-match lunch in Croydon when I worked on the Palace Chatback show. I was introduced to him as a Nottingham lass and he said to me, 'So young lady, if you're from Nottingham why do you support Crystal Palace?' – something I've wondered myself several times over the years! Mum was pleased that Brian's other son, Simon, was featured on the show as she goes to his newsagents in West Bridgford.

Talking of England managers, Fabio's not doing too badly, although it's going to be a big test for us tonight in the World Cup qualifier against Ukraine… come on England! I guess now's a good time to share my top five footballers with you – but I've got two lists!

My all time top five are:

  • George Best
  • Pele
  • Gazza
  • Zidane
  • Ronaldo (the Brazilian one!)

And my current top five are:

  • Fabregas
  • Torres
  • John Terry
  • Totti
  • Ronaldo (the Portugese one!)

Actually, I have a third list, of my Palace top five, but I'll save that for next time.

Wasn't it lovely to see Keeley from Elemis looking so 'blooming' at the weekend? I hope you managed to get the TSV – the Lime and Ginger body wash and lotion are really fab. I have a busy week ahead with Butler & Wilson – I know lots of you love the double act – and I'm also launching a new range of Elle watches at the weekend; eagle eyes may have spotted me wearing a sample on my wrist ahead of time. Let me know what you think of them!

Julia. xx.
