Hi there, thanks for stopping to read my latest blog, I hope you are well?
This past week for me has been mainly about getting my eldest daughter Tilda ready for her very first day at school. As you can imagine it’s been a mixed bag of emotions. It’s such a big leap for a four year old and as a mum you are suddenly picturing them leaving home and going to university or travelling the world! So it’s been exciting but emotional at the same time. Thankfully Tilda was excited too and wasn’t nervous at all so it seemed like a breeze. The next few weeks will be interesting though as one ‘settling in’ morning is very different to full weeks and full days. I will let you know how it goes. She looked so sweet in her uniform.
QVC has been very busy lately for everyone, there has been some amazing new brands and big launches like the Jay Manuel Beauty make up line and one of my personal favourite kitchen brands, Le Creuset.
I also got to meet a lovely group of customers who were filming promos, giving their opinions on product ranges from It Works and Ecoegg. The film set was at the most incredible house in Chiswick and I went to join them for lunch to say hi and see what they were all up to. It was such a nice group of women and it was lovely to hear about their favourite brands and personal stories. Keep an eye out for their reviews of the products on the channel soon.
Another fantastic new brand to QVC is the leisure wear brand Cuddl Duds. If you love to have incredibly comfortable clothing for your down time that has that ‘Sports Lux’ feel about it then you will love this. Make sure to join us for the Today’s Special Value that launches 13th September.
It’s a gorgeous cosy and stylish poncho/sweatshirt. It’s incredibly soft and I think looks very cool. This will be my go-to jumper for the school run this autumn/winter I just know it. What a perfect piece to have to grab for walking the dog, dashing to the shops and even getting cosy at home to watch telly.
I have also been trying out the Cook’s Essentials Air Fryer which will be the Today’s Special Value later in the week. I have never used one of these before so it was fun to experiment and have a play. The first thing I whipped up were some sweet potato fries for my kids. Peeled, chopped and thrown in the basket with a small slug of oil ( I used olive oil) turn the heat dial and the timer and 15 minutes later we had a fab side dish. Sounds pretty good? Well they were! Good enough for me to make them again later that evening for my husband and myself.
Having tried it once I stepped it up a bit and decided to try salmon. I made a marinade of sesame oil, crushed garlic, lemon juice, honey and soy sauce and let the salmon soak in that for an hour. I then popped the fillets in the air fryer for 10 minutes. Once they were done I added the sweet potato back in just to heat them again along with the fish for just a minute or two. Meanwhile on the hob I had cooked up some chopped courgettes in chilli as an extra side dish.
What’s great about this air fryer is that it uses a pretty small amount of oil so you are still being far more healthy than using a deep fat fryer. The taste is great too and lets face it that’s a really important thing. I love my food so I do sometimes struggle with really healthy food that has no flavour, I love a sauce or a dressing!!
Have you tried an air fryer like this before? I would love to know what else I can try in it, apparently you can do muffins or treacle tart in it!!! The other nice thing about it is that it uses less energy than conventional ovens and it’s quicker! Bonus.
Please share any recipe tips you have for me in the comments and let me know what else you’ve been up to.
Have a great week
