This time last week I was hanging my washing on the line, and applying factor 30 to the parts of me exposed to the sun, for fear of burning in the balmy weather! In the space of three days, I have lost tiles off my roof, had rain water pouring into my loft and lost a pair of smalls off the washing line! Just loving the spring weather!
So along with claiming on the house insurance – for the roof repairs, not the underwear – I have to work out a way of writing to Mr Gordon Ramsey and explaining to him that he can no longer call his cottage pie shepherd's pie, because it's made with beef not lamb! Thanks so much to all of you who joined in the debate last week, and gave me your own version of the recipe.
Not sure if you watched QVC over the weekend, but we had a great TSV from Veho – the Filmscan 35 that enables you to transfer all those old transparencies, negatives and slides into pictures that you could either print from a memory card or download onto your computer.
I have literally bags full of old negatives that go back years, so I can't wait to receive mine. I got the guest Ben to go through a strip of negatives from the 90s when I worked at Beacon Radio in the West Midlands, and he found this picture of me with the singer Paul Young (above)! That was back in the day when 'Wherever I lay my hat' was a huge hit for him – me thinks I should have borrowed his hat and worn it for the photo… what was that hair all about?!
It reminds me of some dreadful hair disasters I've had over the years, with possibly the worst when I was 16 and went to have my hair highlighted at the local salon. In those days you had to wear a rubber skull cap that had holes in it, and they'd pull your hair through with a thing that looked like a crochet hook… agony!
Well, the hairdresser left the bleach on too long, and when she took the cap off, the hair that was pulled through the holes stretched to almost double the length. It was the consistency of an elastic band, and snapped when brushed. I was a platinum blonde with hair of an indeterminate length – depending on whether I brushed it that day or not.
Another delight was the pistachio green shade my bleached hair took on after two weeks of sun and chlorine… I had to have it all cut off when I got home, so with brown roots and green tips I looked like a mint chocolate!
Have you ever had a horrible hair day/week/month or year? I look forward to hearing your horror stories!
Have to go now and take Dodge to the vet, he's not been too well over the last 24 hours, so I want to get him checked out. I'll let you know how he does.
Have a good week,
Love Ali xx
